The Nitto's 555R'2 are definitely a better street tire than the MT ET Street SS's. (IMO) The stiffer sidewall on the Nitto's will give up some drag strip performance because of that, but they drive phenomenal on the street and are cheaper than the R888 from ToYo yet offer the same treadwear rating. I think you will really like them. I'm on my second set.
I'll gladly sacrifice some straight line grip for improvements in handling and daily drivability.
Looking forward to trying them out, will give some feedback.

Yea the Toyos are a bit ridiculous pricing wise ($530 per tire for the size I want vs $390 for the Nittos). Tire prices are a bit out of control right now...same as most other things I guess

@TEXAS HEAT,
Thanks for the recommendation, just got these in today:
285/35r19 NT555G2
305/35r19 NT555RII
Changing from Michelin PS4S (295 + 325/30r19) with decent straight line and very decent cornering grip. Hopefully the handling isn't too terrible with these

@Brad1810r80,
Are you running your stock drive and half shafts at your track?

What size rims are you running on the rear?

Nittos are actually worse than the et street r's far as breaking stuff. That's what I have on the daily wheels. They're more likely to wheel hop compared to the et street r.
I absolutely agree with this statement. The 555R2's struggle to put the power to the ground at the track on the shifts, the 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 wheel hopped pretty badly for me even though they hooked really well at launch. I attribute this to the stiffer sidewall, which is what makes them a better tire on the street.

I will likely get a dedicated strip tire for the track, I've had a set of ET Street R's back when I was NA and they were drama free at the track... In the rain, not so much.

Same for me too. I did like the nittos better on the street, but bunny hopped down the track with them; and in the rain the ETRs were like driving on ice. I don't drive in the rain anymore with car.

Yes the nittos r2s in 19 inch size are definitely not a track tire but work ok on the street. I find them marginally better then mp4s in straightline traction and they last less then half as long. If you don't already have a cradle lock out kit it will definitely help. Also run the nittos no more then 25 psi hot otherwise the middle will wear out fast then the tires will be useless.

I have my G3 sitting on my desk at work as a constant reminder that I need to get my other project done so I can install it!
