Tech specs lists GT,GT350, and GT500 with a very general “tubular stainless steel headers”. Been trying to find the actual dimensions. I’ve read that they may be routed differently to avoid other components, but are the primary sizes different?

I’m no mechanic but I’m not really buying the school of thought that “you gotta get headers”. If the factory headers are equal or at least close between the GT, 350, or 500 I can’t see spending the money on aftermarket headers on my coyote when they can handle the flow of the voodoo or predator engine.

I appreciate anyone’s experience or insight. I’m too old to become a real mechanic at this point so I’m gonna rely on y’all.

The factory headers are more than adequate for The VooDoo engine. However, if you like the sound of LTHs, then no muffler, h or x-pipe will give you the same sound. Simply put, the sound of the LTHs is like a music orchestra. They will also set you up for future power upgrades; more air in coupled with the most free flowing exhaust will net you the best results.

Not looking for extra sound and don’t plan to force air. I’m going to port the intake manifold and possibly drop some comp cams in with higher capacity injectors. Everything else will be in just getting that power to the ground.

Cams aren't worth it either honestly

Save your money. the days of banging, cursing, bleeding to get a set in and gaining 35-50 hp are long over.
15hp at power peak maybe. If you can find a set that is tuned to pull the exhaust gasses out of the cyl. (scavenging).
Engine bays tend to be too tight to fix headers that will do this well.
Some like the "ting" sound they have.
It isn't like it used to be where the oem's left a bunch of power on the table, choking the engine with log exhaust manifolds.
Look at the last 24-36 months of what the fed and epa have done to diesel guys, The pump gas/e85 market is next.
I'd skip any mods that screw with fed mandated emission controls, unless it is more a track car, and all out mods for every last hp.

So you plan to throw your money away?

If you’re going to do cams, I recommend headers. For as much money as you’ll spend purchasing/installing the cams, it would be a shame to leave power on the table by not getting rid of the exhaust gases as efficiently as possible. Besides, if you’re also going to port your intake, the entire combination (ported intake, cams, and LTHs) would be the ultimate way for your car to inhale and exhale. Sprinkle in an E85 tune and you are really going to be smiling from ear to ear.

Skip all that noise and drop a blower on it. shut hood.
About the same end cost.

Not sure your motives here. But yes, I always plan on money being completely wasted…I’m married.

Unfortunately, the closest E85 is 32 miles from home. I’d drink up a quarter tank just filling up. I’m really on the fence about cams. It’s pretty stupid expensive for them and though I really enjoy working on my car, I’d leave that mod to to the professionals.

Lots of guys drinking the E sauce here.
Go with headers and High Flow cats or mod a set of OEM headers. There’s power to be had. Nothing will last longer that the OEM headers and they’re the closest to a 4-2-1 you’ll find that works. Guys are kicking the factory headers to the curb when the power magic is high flow cats. Now EPA and State Air testing is another discussion….

Won’t have to worry too much in small town South Carolina.

What is it you’re chasing after ?
That’s a good question. It’s mostly unnecessary enthusiasm if I’m honest. 500HP sounds like a nice round number. I’ve never had a “muscle car” before and I suppose I just have the fever for tweaking things. It’s enjoyable to learn about all this stuff, get my hands in it when it’s reasonable for a beginner to do so, feeling the difference in things as I do them.
I’m not planning on track days or drag strips so it’s all for hobby purposes at best.

If I had a nickel every time I walked in after work and saw some 'new item that overpromises and underdelivers, and costs WAY too much, well maybe I could pay myself back for all that useless crap LOL
