Ford had to spend the money to make the HP wheels achieve a certain minimum strength to satisfy engineering. They then found a supplier that can make a cheaper version of the same stylw wheel that they can offer for sale as well.
FP says they're made in USA too, so not Made in China. Dunno, we can weigh them (without tyre) to know for sure, I guess. My dealer has a tuning division who can get stuff from USA so I will consult with him how much it would cost after I get my car soon. Depending on that I will use their service or import on my own. But someone else in USA will probably have it sooner 😁

The PP2 10.5/11" wheels are cast as well (both oem and FP version) and cost not that much more for FP set. Maybe the cost reflects bit lower weight or they just have made too many of them and didn't make that many cars?

Consider 19" HRE flow-formed wheels weigh 23 lbs. These HP wheels weigh 31-33 lbs which is only bit less than regular wheels. That doesn't sound like flow formed either because those are always lighter, that's their benefit.

You could be right! I hope so because I’ll buy 2 sets at that price. Why? I have no idea but it seems like a good thing to do lol

I like to disassemble things.
FR needs to further clarify in the product description to eliminate ambiguity. Something along the lines of "these are the OEM production wheels as used on the Mach1 with the Handling Package."

I do not believe they are the same wheel. Theres just too big of a discrepancy in the cost of this set and a single wheel from Ford.
Price a set of PP2 wheels, over $900 each when you include the $50 core charge. Ford Performance versions retail for $1,650. OEM stuff is always more, look at the GT350/base GT500 spoiler. OEM is something like $1,200, Ford Performance version is $600, and that includes the gurney flap.

I still don’t believe Ford would make two versions of the same wheel. Ford is not going to spend anything more then they need to.

I don’t have the part numbers for pp2 wheels but I’d be interested to see levittown’s pricing on one vs a set to see if there’s that big of a difference that we are seeing here.
in the pictures it looks like these HP wheels are black. If they are same wheel it would have been nice if the finish had been the same

Flowformed and forged are 2 completely different construction methods. The OEM Mach 1HP wheels are not forged. Even on the Ford Racing site it says they are factory equipment from the Mach 1 HP.

It says so, it says on the FR website that they are factory equipment from the Mach 1 HP.

Please read the 2nd line from the Ford Racing website.

There are several ways to construct a wheel.

1. Cast
2. Low Pressure Cast
3. Flow Formed
4. Forged

According to Ford Racing they are cast. I would at least hope they would be low pressure cast as these would be stronger than cast yet lighter.

If they were FlowFormed they would be lighter than they are. If they are only 2lbs lighter than the regular Mach1 wheel, this makes me feel they are low pressure cast. This is how BMW makes their wheels by Sachs or BBS, with Low Pressure Cast.

I know exactly what the FR product listing says, line by line, word by word. Change or miss one word, and confusion ensues. I chose my words carefully, and they are not the same as what FR says.

When you see numerous people reaching the same conclusions, something is amiss.

This may sound funny but aside from poor effort on FR's part to convey the precise source of the wheels, there may be another reason why they were not as clear cut in their description as they could have been.

Back when it was Ford Motorsport, and then FRPP, there was a bit of a battle between them and Ford and it had to do with production wheels (among other parts). Ford had a problem with what they saw as the "back dooring" of production wheels. Some at Ford were unhappy with the fact that hardware was being moved, profits were redistributed as it were, from one entity to another because certain discounts allowed items to move that otherwise did not. Ford then wanted OEM items to be "differentiated" so that they could sell the OEM service parts (except nobody was buying them) and their performance division would sell a similar part, not exactly the same as OEM, which could be sold at a discount in comparison. Many parts sold via SVO/Ford Motorsport/FRPP/Ford Racing actually are production pieces but Ford will tell you (in the fine print) that they are aftermarket pieces and NOT Ford's and as such are not subject to Ford's warranty coverage policies. Whatever, long story, but what I'm getting at is that I have a sense that the wording is sometimes done the way it is to intentionally obfuscate. I know it makes no sense but there is more at play than what rises to the surface.

Regardless...FR should further clarify. And something else, much like with connecting rods (originally either forged or cast, then you had powder forged), there is confusion when rotary forged wheels are called forged when they actually start out as a casting. You have to go out of your way to be concise otherwise many will misconstrue and it simply isn't necessary. Just like what is happening here. Or happened, anyway.

Looking forward to seeing them when you get them. If I had Mach1, even if it was already a HP optioned car, I would still purchase these as a backup set because this is that good of a deal. Heck, I have a '20 GT500 and even though I couldn't use them....I want 'em.

It's a damn sickness.

I don’t have the part numbers for pp2 wheels but I’d be interested to see levittown’s pricing on one vs a set to see if there’s that big of a difference that we are seeing here.
Part numbers are in the spreadsheet. Here you go, 2x 592 + 2x 602 + 4x 50 = 2588$ for set of 4 OEM PP2 on Levittown. MSRP is 3721$. It pretty much matches HP OEM pricing. FP has this set for 1650$ MSRP and 1348$ on Levittown, pretty drastic as well. The only difference with FP PP2 wheels is the matte black colour instead of magnetic, nothing else construction wise.

I’ve been looking for another set of wheels pretty much since I bought the car. I just didn’t realize how hard it was to find some that fit car. I had a feeling that these wheels were going come out but not at this price.

So I came to the conclusion to order the HP 10.5" and 11" wheels and put 285/35 R19 and 295/35 R19 tyres on them. Don't wanna overdo the poke which seems bit too excessive with 305/315-30. Also those sizes are the max recommended for the rim width on Tirerack, made in USA hence potentially lower availability (higher price too) to French made 285/295 sizes and also I'm bit afraid of too big diameter difference (3% in the front for 305, 4.6% in the rear for 315) to my stock size, and with quite a bit narrower sidewall worse ride quality on bad roads and higher risk of damaging the rim. Putting it unofficially to the car's tech certificate is a whole another issue which should also be easier to deal with in these sizes rather than with 305+ (it'd be teasing the snake with bare foot as we say).

I think 285/35 and 295/35 seem like a good size for these wheels all things considered, do you agree? (basically +1 inch in rim width = +1 inch in tyre width)

I would do a 295/35/19 and a 305/35/19. Unfortunately you have to go with a Mich PSS as the 4S doesn't offer a 305/35/19.
