Got gas...

2.15/93/Costco

Costco and Sams club is only place I fill my ecobost up, its literally like 80-90c cheaper than any other gas station for 93 fuel. 87 is like 5-10cents cheaper. not as much savings, but I wouldn't of tuned my Ecoboost without Sams club 5 mins down road honestly.

Not trying to start a big debate, rather just trying to help but not all 93 is the same, literally. Not really a big deal if youā€™re just a cruiser but if you spent money on a tune and are trying to wring out every bit of performance you might be doing yourself a disservice using the cheap places like Costco or GetGo.

Sorry, too late. Costco is Top Tier gas and has been tested at full octane at stations across the nation. Their gas is also the freshest as they turn over their tanks faster than anyone else out there.
OK, Iā€™m done now.

I don't know why but I get more mpg's from Costco fuel than anywhere else, but imo 93 is 93 to me. haven't ever noticed a difference other than mpg, engine never knockss or anything from other fuels, im not logging data or anything but just driving, no difference.

car was feeling wonky after fill ups and I started blaming fuel, but ended up being evaporated purse valve, swapped it 25 dollars and been golden.

okay will do. Didnā€™t mean to ruffle feathers.

I am curious though as to why you see many dyno pulls pulling timing, then finding out they filled up at XYZ, then they add some type of octane booster and things magically get back to normal/where it should be. ??

I reckon the money saved buying 93 at Costco for a year allows me to order a 200 gallon pallet of '93 from a custom mixer, for HPDE use? Or I just buy my track day gas out in WInchester where the street price is way lower anyway...

Yup, itā€™s almost unbelievable, and it actually justifies the membership fee. My only complaint is they donā€™t have paper towel dispensers by the pumps like QT, but those savings gotta come from somewhere I suppose...

Keep meaning to post a few things, so I'll just drop them all at once. Did these over the past few months!

1) I covered the rear deck child-seat anchor plates with carpet, to stop them reflecting on the rear windscreen:

IMG_20200811_161844.jpg

It's not as noticeable in this photo as it really was, but it was annoying to have the top portion of my rearview cut off by these little guys.

IMG_20200815_131348.jpg

The plates are really easy to pop out, but a little trickier to re-install. I bought the carpet (similar to that used on Sub boxes, etc), and applied it to the plate using spray adhesive. I still have plenty of the carpet left, if anyone wants to give it a go.

IMG_20200815_144454.jpg

After re-install, the color just wasn't dark enough, despite looking like it would be when it arrived! Easily remedied with a thick Sharpie.

IMG_20200815_172350.jpg

Sun will likely even it out eventually, but it's holding steady so far.

IMG_20200815_172421.jpg

No more glare! Apart from the wing, I get my whole rearview back. Woohoo!

2) Made a custom Kydex magnetic phone mount for the radio faceplate.

My old sticky magnet mount worked okay, but the ever-changing weather down here in southeast VA led to hot days loosing the adhesive, and cold days firming up the tape, and I was over it.

IMG_20200716_183132.jpg

So, I disassembled the mount, tossed the ball-clamp, and cut a piece of kydex to start forming. I've had a Recaro bezel waiting to go in, so I used that to form a perfect fit. Did a bunch of trimming, sanding, and used the heatgun to do some last-minute adjustments.

Easily the sturdiest phone mount I've ever had! Held in only by friction.

Had to borrow the wife's phone to take a pic, but couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

okay so note to self, I guess Costco is one of the ā€™goodā€™ 93ā€™s. I have a membership, I guess I just thought they had cheap gas due to cheap additives when really itā€™s just cheap because they make up for it with membership fees and the fact that they sell just about everything and theyā€™re expecting the customer to do ALL of their shopping there.

you buy a 12-roll inside, and then put a roll in your back seat. that's all it's useful for anyway. My F150 runs on '93 tune so yeah I'm totally going to go to Costco. Membership pays for itself in 2 or 3 months in just gas purchase.
