that makes me cry. WHY RUIN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CAR!!!!

Why God Why????

I am not a fan of any 'Stang that doesn't require a jack to get under it. I am a little thicker these days so that is still true of the classics.

1. A DCT is better than a manual in every measurable way except for "feel" or some other such nonsense. Come at me, stick-boys.
They may be the ideal choice for racing where the driver's intentions are well-defined, shifting speed has high priority, and a bit of harshness can be overlooked. They haven't been as good at part throttle easy driving, and there's a class-action suit against Audi about multiple problems involving shaking as it shifts between gears. Pretty sure I read fairly recently where Audi may be giving up on the DSG, at least in some models. Not sure where that was at this point.

okay.

“XeninWorX buys MGW shifter, turns it upside down, attaches a rubber band to it and makes a slingshot with it. Launches a metal shift knob @Mikthehun1 .”

ha, lemme see you do that with your DCT:giggle:

Now, if you allow a computer to do the shifting, is it a manual or an automatic?
As soon as you allow a transmission to determine any of its own gear shifting, you've automated the thing at least partially. Automated = automatic. It helps to separate the automation part from the mechanical arrangement, and from any stigma carried by the association between older automatics and descriptions such as 'slushbox'. IOW, take any emotional reaction out of it and just look at what automation means.

No, I don't think I'd care for "manual"-shifting-by-wire. Not unless I was to become physically handicapped to the point where I would need that much help, anyway. I would still not want any automatic mode. With several knee surgeries in my past, this sort of thing has crossed my mind before.

It was probably unwise of you to tell me you don't like something...

I don't expect anything coming from the VAG to be of lasting quality. They've proven themselves to be cheats and liars. I wouldn't be surprised if their version of a DCT was actually just a little man pulling levers.
SN95 Mustangs make the best battle cars.

Think about it though, you'd never worry about speedbumps or steep driveways. The green one looks like it has a better approach than a Wrangler :cwl:
I'm wondering though, do the companies that sell those rims also include step ladders to get into the cars???

More people make that mistake than not. The industry speaks in code. I just happen to have a decoder ring.
Probably didn't help I wrote that last big post I made right before leaving for work. I usually wouldn't have associated S550/S650/S197/etc. as platforms because I know those are used to distinguish the different generations of Mustangs. In the end, I didn't proofread before posting. It is what it is.

Maybe all I REALLY want for the next gen Mustang is to be able to configure the exterior/interior aesthetics ala carte, as opposed to tying certain looks to specific appearance packages only. Then again, who knows if I'll still be interested in a Mustang when the time comes for me to start looking for a new ride? Tastes can change, after all.
