My 2020 GT 350 Engine Blew today

My car has only 424 miles on it. It just seized and was taken to the dealership today. I am so disgusted!!

Sheesh. These engines are built by Ford Performance techs by hand which separates them from the rest of the GT’s and Eco’s. You would expect quality control to be higher.

Maybe it’s another valve train issue ?

Anybody thinking of “upgrading “ because of the new motor from a pre 19 better think again .

Worst case scenario if your pre 19 stock motor fails send it off to be built by a reputable shop to address the all the sub par stuff . Would still be cheaper than trading . Lol
Me personally I am “stock piling” voodoo motors(Instead of toilet paper ) - you will be surprised how affordable a short block build can be . Used heads are also fairly cheap so you can “upgrade “ the valve train too .
I looked at the “Gen 2 “ heads (same as they have on the predator ) but may be better off avoiding them (too much $$$ anyway ).

I remember seeing only one 2019 engine failure but can't find the reference to it.

They all look to be related to the failure of a valve. I would be interested to know how close they were to each other in terms of production numbers. I would suspect a bad supply of valves. Really a shame for these folks.

I agree with that and would like to see the all engine tags for build dates as well

My 2019 let go with low mileage as well (possibly the one you are referencing). "Valvetrain failure" was all the info I ever got. It does seem like there is some component level issue - perhaps a metallurgy issue? that is causing some sort of valve failure and eating the engines. I suppose the real question is... Is this a bad component in some small percentage of production that always fails early, or is it something affecting a much higher percentage of production that can happen at any time and just happens early for some of us? Seems like the 2019+ engines are a lot better than earlier ones....except for this issue...whatever it is...

Ford buys the valves from a vendor. Wonder who it is. The people that assembled the motor grab the parts and go at it, they don’t check them. The valve vendor should be random sampling the valves. But I don’t know how one would be tested.

Sorry to hear about that mate. No consolation but with travel and movement limited now is a good time to have it in the shop.



Ford will fix it ...the only question is do you want it back? With that low mileage on it you should be okay.

That car is sharp though.Good luck!
