Rotors are about $250 each, pads $500...so $1500 in parts and $2100 in labor. Someone is cashing in on those few hours of work for over 2 grand.

If you haven't done it already, I would say shop around. But if that dealership is going to pay your entire bill, then I guess it doesn't matter.

Don't let it shake you man - you made it out fine! I know you can change the oilfilter mount to the new cartridge mount on the newer cars, so that might be a good next mod...even though I'm sure that filter is on there TIGHT now ;)

I did enjoy reading the mechanic's note that my tires showed abnormal wear and were "melted due to track use" which at least made me feel like I was doing stuff when the car was working.

Oh I'm not doubting your prices, I fully believe you are being charged 3600 for the brake job. I'm just saying you're getting hosed and if you're paying for yourself you might as well shop around. After all the unexpected expenses you had, I'm sure you could use some savings.

As far as the cleanup....i have a detail shop and I usually use dawn or griots decreased. To really get it squared away you need to take off the trays and pans, spray the oil off and get it all as thin as possible. Then get it all sprayed with soap, then scrub it as best as you can. Let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse and repeat a couple times. When you are done, dry it as best as you can, and put a coat or two of wax on the floor, and the cradle/ subframe to make it easier to clean next tine

Yeah they changed all four corners even though only two (driver's side) were oil soaked.

I didn't think you were doubting me, and I'm aware buying from the dealer is synonymous with overpaying. This was an act of convenience and extreme conservatism on my part.

Seriously what next, they'll say don't drive through puddles because the oil dropped by other cars might splash onto the rotors and destroy them? There may not have been any intention to deceive but...really...it makes no sense.

Totally understand you want to move past it and fair enough. Given their performance with the rotors, do you know for sure that the Ford dealer torqued the new filter correctly? It might have been a lucky escape with no damage this time but it's not something you want to revisit.

typical shop rates in my area are around $140-$200/hr so $225/hr for a dealer is pretty normal to me. The rotors are way overpriced. Agreed on that. The people who screwed up the oil change (Campbell Ford Performance) are not the same folks that did the repairs (Ford) and if Ford messes up the repairs at least I have a company I feel is likely to stand behind their work to hold accountable.

One other thing I’d say on the cost front is that my “other” car is a Ferrari and I bought the Mustang because the ‘Rari is to expensive to track because stuff like this happens. When I needed to replace my rear rotors on the Ferrari it was $5k just for used rotors, nothing else. They’re CC but you pay a lot for the logo like it or not. So $5k for everything doesn’t sting relative to my other car and this is quite literally why I bought the GT350, so I can run it hard and when it breaks, not shed ALL my tears. I do love my Shelby every bit as much as any other car I’ve had.

And...you're still in one piece and driving a GT350. That said, every time I see one on here I'm reminded I have great loathing for the GT350. But ONLY because I can't buy one here
