I'll be furious about that stain on the seat. They don't care about customers how pay they bills.
I think he either dropped an oily tool or took a buddy for a Shelby Joy Ride after the shifter was swapped out. There were dirty footprints on the passenger floor mat and it had been perfectly clean.

It's going back in the morning and they're letting their detail guy give it a try.

If it's not perfect they have already agreed to purchase a new seat cover.

You pay top dollar for dealership service and get Jiffy Lube treatment.

I had some work done yesterday. Oil change, four-wheel alignment, and the shifter replacement.

Oil changes at the dealership are ridiculous - $158.52 for (10) quarts of 5w50 and a FL2087 filter - and that's just the parts.

Same stuff for $106 from RockAuto delivered to my door - paid $30 labor to the dealership - saved over $52.

Alignment was pretty good but now it's perfect.

Shifter really doesn't feel that much different and the tech left me a present - why they went light gray on the seating area I will never know...

Exactly what I worry about with the techs doing the work. I assume they are handling cleaning your Recaros??

So sorry to see that Randy. Finding a dealer where you can trust the tech and have a good rapport with the Service Manager or Shop Foreman is difficult to find. I expect the seat will be cleaned (it is polyester) or replaced. Lets hope this experience puts you on their radar for no repeat performances.

Unfortunately it just comes down to being respectful of a persons property. My "things" in life are just that and are all replaceable and accidents can happen That being said I work hard and have earned everything I have acquired in life so it really pisses me off when I see people like this that basically don't care. I on the other hand take very good care of my possessions because I know what it took to get to a place where I can have them.

As with any occupation, there are those who have a job and those who perform a craft, skill and / or service.

WD 40 takes out grease and oil stains so you'd never know it was there. Hopefully they know this and don't mess it up using something else.

I agree.
Causes me to walk in to shop meet all responsible for working on my car, explaining that Alcantara stains easily. Need to be extra careful etc.
I find myself saying” I don’t want to sound like a pain in the ass”. We all paid a lot of money for these cars. They require unique care and attention to detail. Challenging to find dealers that get it.

Holly crap Randy I know how particular you are about your car. I am really sorry to hear about your problems. Where did you take your car?? The next time you need anything done bring it up to my house and we will get it done.

My 2018 just received the notice. It is a late build. There is no way I am taking my car in for this. Every time I've ever taken any of my previous Mustangs in for a warranty item, I have regretted it for the life of the car. If it breaks I'll replace myself.

Their detail guy tried today. I'm going to vacuum it tonight and see if I can see anything.

I'm hoping! The last Service Manager was the only person who drove it. He would pull it into the bay, shut it down, and tell them to call him when they were done. The new guy and I set a similar expectation moving forward.

Thanks Mike! Rodeo Ford in Goodyear. I was really hoping they could pull off the shifter swap with no drama but it didn't happen!

I would ask them to give you the new shifter and tell them you're doing the work yourself.

Good for you. Sucks that you/we have to do that but it has to be explained to them.
Good luck. I will be doing the same thing shortly with my dealer.

It hurts to see that they stained your seat man!! This is what I mean, carelessness !!!

how is it that none of these service departments think to put a plastic seat cover over the seats as soon as the car comes into the shop!?!!?!?

Randy, did the stain come out ?
Im glad you already have them lined up for a replacement seat cover if the stain doesn’t come out.
