@Voodoo Velocity is there a way to tell whether a car was held for a new shifter and the work was actually performed?
If your VIN is in the FSA - you did not get the new shifter. I cannot say for sure if any actually were held up and got the new shifter as there was a cluster of a backup with GT350s, Mustangs and even Explorers for various part issues. But the FSA does say SOME of the affected vehicles built from 6/5/18 to 8/26/19.

Held up for steering wheel, with the rest. But VIN is in the stack, so FSA required. Thanks much.

Did you get a letter, or get a notice on your Ford Pass App?
Bought my 19 in March about 2 weeks after the FSA came out. Dealer did the replacement before I bought the car. I got notified on Ford Pass so I called the dealer. They did the job about 3 days before I bought the car. Notice on the App disappeared and never got a letter. Must've taken time for paperwork to catch up.

Thanks for asking. Don't use Ford Pass App, but was able to confirm that I need the FSA. I ordered the car direct, and it was built last March. Got held up in shipping for the steering wheel last spring, but unfortunately didn't get the new shifter. Working with the dealer I use for maintenance to schedule it.

Mine was also built last March (mid month), but mine made it to the dealer about 6 weeks later so it seems mine somehow squeaked past the stockpile hold ups. I had the FSA performed with no issues in late March (this time I squeaked past the COVID lock down). I'd like to think my Shelby is charmed. One year delivery anniversary this week, so I guess I should plan a Birthday drive by?

Good luck with the FSA. Unless you are having issues with the shifter, why not wait until things re-open? I was able to wait on mine along with an oil change service and I was out of there in 3-4 hours.

Took mine in 3 weeks ago to the local advisor. Not only is my shifter being fixed. The red embroidery on the drivers seat has started to unravel. It took him 2 weeks to get Ford to approve the new cover. Now we are waiting for it to be delivered. The last item is my hood latch has from day 1 been tricky. Once you pop the hood, you reach in for the secondary release and you have to "yank" at the hood to get it to open fully.

Waiting on dealer to contact me to bring in the car.

Charmed is good!

Unfortunately, the COVID lockdown here started in mid-March, so there was no way to beat it. Certain portions and areas are lifting, so I hope to get it done as soon as it does open back up. I have an MGW as well, but first I want the proper OEM so I have it on hand--stickler about maintaining all OEM parts. May be able to strike a deal so I don't have to replace the replacement. This is the first visit for this one and I have a handful of other items that need to be corrected, followed by paint correction and PPF. Place I use is a bit of a haul, but they took great care of my 2016 and are worth the drive and the wait.

I'm really hoping an entire new mechanism will improve mine. It is my biggest ownership disappointment. Popping out of gear, difficulty going into Reverse or 1st, terrible shift into second - not the experience I was looking forward to.
I had mine pop out of gear twice now, and I just have about 175 miles.

And it does feels good overall, but there is at least a little "Loosey Lucy", or "Go fish"

Anyone have the gear popping out thing, then do the recall, and see that go away? I was worried I might of had a lemon trans

I had a dream about this last night !!! My car kept popping out of gear.
Then I come in here and read your post!!!! Weird!!!! Hope it’s nothing serious with your car.

You didn’t do the recall yet correct?

I did the recall on one of our clients car that was having shifting issues . It seems to have corrected it . I still think the oem shifters fill like a wet noodle and recommend switching to a mgw . But that is just my opinion .

That's a first. Never heard anyone refer to a GT350 shifter as a wet noodle, even those who are most critical of it.

The shifter in the gt and the 350 is basically the same . When I refer to it filling like a wet noodle , there is a lot of slop between gear changes . Even though the gt and the 350 use different transmission the shifters are rubber mounted to the transmission and body . When you change to an aftermarket shifter that is transmission mounted , with less rubber bushings , it fills and shifts more accurate. Less play = less missed shifts when hard on it . I work on a lot of these cars modified and stock , there is a big diifarnce on what works and doesn't . So what I'm trying to say , from a stock shifter to an aftermarket one is , it fells lick a wet noodle . Or a pool noodle , sloppy , no positive engagement, or how ever you want to describe it .

I like to disassemble things.
Most any modern day Mustang shifter is going to be a semi-remote design that is rubber bushed throughout for NVH. There is a critical difference between the shifters Ford uses on the Mustang GT and the GT350 though. The factory GT350 is a pendulum design and the GT a single axis design - in general terms. Theoretically, the single axis is what you want for performance as it is more linear. Problem is, Ford dumbs down the shifters via joints in the actuation rod, overly soft bushings, etc.

I've stated this for years now regarding the GT350 shifter - it is a low budget design. Make that very low budget. The composite ball/cup used are a compromise (large tolerances, rapid wear) that affects shift quality negatively as time and mileage are accrued. The reverse lockout mechanism (collar and spring) design is problematic as Ford is trying impart light feel (via a soft spring) that encourages the collar to stick. There is too much deflection in the system and it in part reduces feel and accuracy. Considering the monies spent on the clutch for the 5.2L Voodoo engine as well as the refinements made to the TR3160, the shifter isn't up to snuff and is a rather poor match. Ford is now stuck with it (as are GT350 owners) and is bandaiding what was a poor design to begin with. Admittedly, they can't win here. If they manufacture a more precise shift mechanism (typically costlier, something they don't favor) they will hear complaints related to NVH. If they go the weak wrist path then hard charging enthusiasts complain. So they try to find a balance. Problem here is, the balance went out the window with this car and they are trying to take the edge out of it with a "gentler" mechanism. They did the same thing with the clutch spring, something they keep going back and forth with. IMHO, they needed a focus group for this car with a harder edge.
