So i could cover the JLT but not seal it.
I can buy a steeda or the Icebox(thid is 101mm vs 120 tho)
Or use the 350one. (What size the tube is ?)

I don't think you need to worry about in take temps, with that hood and the amount of air going into the bay it will be negligible.
The other thing is you will always be moving on a road course vs a drag strip.
As bmac said the pre filter works wonders, I also use a jlt with a pre filter.
Bluemustang has tried the 18 roush closed box and cpe closed box, he ended up going back to the jlt because of the flow he saw.

I've had the JLT 2018 version, Steeda Closed Box, and now the CP-E Icebox. I haven't really done MAF flow testing on the CP-E, but it's been smooth at all points for me so far. Temps are decent, but it can heat up at idle even being closed. The problem I had with the JLT 2018 was my car was dying occasionally from what I believe was turbulence while slowing down.

I have an 18 JLT and thought about a couple of things. I think I'll try to source a 350 heat shield and just add foam to the top to seal it to the hood. I plan on getting Trackspec vents so hopefully that will help as well.

Another thing to think about is of you plan on getting a flex tune, the steeda box will not work. Unless they made a revision.

In the short testing I did, the cp-e was very similar to the JLT in terms of MAF. I also believe the bell mouth they use on the intake tube helps to smooth out the airflow.

The Roush 18 CAI was significantly less than any of the others in MAF, despite the tube size being similar. And agreed, the cp-e was very smooth, maybe the smoothest of all of them. If Flyhalf could get that cp-e to fit, this may be the best option for him IMO. Not only does it have a plexiglass lid, but it also smartly includes gaps at certain parts of the box to let air out. What I found with the Roush 18 CAI at the trackcross - it resulted in higher IAT than any of the others. Why, because the rest of the engine bay heats up and that ambient heat will slowly transfer to the plastic lid and box, and due the closed lid design does not let the now hotter air inside the box escape. I thought as many of you do, that the closed box will always result in lower IAT. Not always the case as I found out. If the situation is right, heatsoak can still happen.

Now in open track like Flyhalf will be using it for, the above is not a concern. But I do believe you will be giving up MAF compared to others (JLT, cp-e, etc.).

In my discussions with cp-e, one of their employees ran it on his 2018 Mustang and said it fit fine. Not sure why I had trouble with fitment. I still have the intake assembly, sitting in the box looking for a new home.

I've now tested the following on my 2015 GT recently:
JLT - 110mm
JLT - 120mm
Cp-e - 110mm
Roush - 105mm

One weird thing - for some reason the JLT 110mm showed a consistent 1 lb/min extra MAF than the 120mm version. The 110mm JLT I observed the highest peak MAF lb/min numbers.

The CP-E is 110mm. Same as the 15-17 JLT. I am not sure you will see higher airflow using a 120mm version. You may, you may not. I am pretty sure the GT350 CAI is 105mm.

Let's remember that the bullitt uses the 350 airbox for a 15hp gain (with of course different tune. )
So yes the 18 airbox is great. I do believe it can be better.
Not to be taken the wrong way.
If your chasing 15 HP it’s time to schedule a day or two on the rollers. Your in need of real time based acceleration rate testing along with HP tweaking.

I
Didn't get what you mean..
My point was.
I've got
14whp with borla
23whp with the tune (oem airbox)
Maybe the tune and the CAI will add 15-20whp
I will have a gain of ~55whp total. Not a "revolution in power " but
From the 414whp original is almost a 15% power increase. But more important the torque. (Very important for my turn exit)
That is why I'm choosing accurately the CAI. Cause otherwise is just another little piece dor the shows that i really dont care about.

Honestly just grab a jlt or 350 CAI and use a pre filter to keep rain out.
I assume you won't be driving/ tracking the car much in the rain, so that might not even be needed but for peace of mind its nice to have.
The amount of Hp from the stock box to a jlt most likely wont be more than 10hp at peak. I could be wrong but i haven't seen stock 18 vs jlt flow numbers. I do know that the flow will be slightly higher.
I also don't remember what the stock 18 tube size is.

15-20hp gains on a CAI have been shown to be from the tune rather than the intake itself. If you are already tuned then your gains will be very minimal

I will definetely document it.
I have dyno of oem ,oem +borla, borla tune 91oct. Borla and tune 96oct
So i will add the CAI and test with the 91 amd 96 tune.
Will be interesting to see the numbers. According to my tuner (palm beach) most of the aftermarket will help some.
When you will compete against porsche and heavy mod bmw and ofncourse shelbys and camaro every hp counts :)

OP i doubt you will see 15-20 hp gain, if that was true all the nay sayers like myself would be swapping for these intakes. Look at Lethals website and their build chart of project goldmember their 2018 A10, they have the numbers they put down for every single mod and was done in stages. With E85 and tune and some other mods they put down 459rwhp, adding the JLT only and retuning they got 461rwhp. Now as you said earlier you are after every HP gain you can get so maybe that 2rwhp is worth it to you, or maybe you will see some extra gain based on how your car is setup, but i wouldnt go into it expecting a 20hp gain, Good luck man, car looks badass.

Agreed and thanks for the input.
I'm not expecting more than 5whp fornsure. But maybe a better torque around 4- 5k ..
With th 96oct tune car is at 452
Cant put headers cause with the borla atak it will be too loud...and it won't pass sound at 2 tracks around.
Although atak and headers sounds awesome!lol
Some of you suggested a ported TB or a 85mm TB.
Some. Allumiunium or carbon fiber drive shaft. However for the 10SPEED the weight reduction is none or minimal (5lbs ish)not sure is worth it 1000$
The next post will be on weight reduction.

At the end.
I need to understand if is worth going higher HP and less weight for the TT2 or keep all OEM and compete with TT3(but in tt3 i find lighter car...)we will see.
Thanks for your help
