Dear all,
With my season ended yesterday,
it is time to upgrade.
i know many discussion has been done for the CAI system.
but I'm looking for a closed box CAI for my 18GT.
the CAI will be pair with a tune.
CAI needs to be CLOSED BOX because I HAVE big hood vents.

Any direct experience?
Please share yours.

keep what you have, unless your going to run a CJ intake.
I put an 18 CAI on my 16.

As has been said and proven multiple times, the stock box with a drop in filter on 18 and up wont be beat. Take this from someone who has found out the hard way. I used one of the no tune ones from airaid, then a JLT tune required, then the steeda box with tune. Now im back to the stock box with a simple drop in, for a reason. I'm not saying any particular company mentioned is a bad FYI, just adding my experience with "CAI".

Thanks for the input.
Some more info.
My car is for roadcourse.
The tune I have will benefit with a bigger and better flow.
A JLT or PMAS are the' standard for a tune to gain around 15whp.

I cant use because the hood vents.
I need every single hp possible.
This year I won the american muscle cup and next year i plan to run TT with NASA. But i will be in tt2 with heavy modified cars. So every horse..counts :)
Is the steeda made for the tune?
What about the oem with high flow fliter(K&N?)
My point is. Right now the tune is max out with the oem 18 airbox. I would like more.
Thanks again

Sorry, but what is wrong with using a jlt with hood vents ?
Stock Gts at least with the 15-17 years also have vents, the jlt works fine.
Another thing to note is that the box doesn't completely seal to the hood, so im not sure how a jlt or pmas would affect you negatively.
The open element intakes have more flow, dynos pretty much prove that with open hood pulls.

I really have an open hood.:) i need a close system. Rain and water will flow through. Also i believe a close system will also have bemefit for the air intake temp.

You can run the JLT with an outwears pre-filter. Also you can make a lexan cover for it to prevent too much water ingress. Several have done this with success. @Bluemustang has seen as high as 50 lb/min with the JLT with said pre-filter on his '15. Heddoes not have headers, but has the 18 manifold. An 18+ car will pull higher than that to start because of the CR and minor displacement increases to start.

I was thinking the mesh around but I'm not sure...
The problem of JLT is the case is not all around and even so i can't design a plexiglass cover... This wwas actually my plan..

It really sucks that the factory air box is usually the best option, even on the gen 1 coyote. My 2012 GT sounded AMAZING with the PMAS but actually was slower in the 1/4 mile even after like 25 tune revisions to perfect it

2018 Apperently react very well to a bigger airflow especially with a very nice manifold.

Let's remember that the bullitt uses the 350 airbox for a 15hp gain (with of course different tune. )
So yes the 18 airbox is great. I do believe it can be better.

I've been very happy with the GT350 airbox, FWIW. I use it with the outerwears pre-filter and it has no issues with heavy rainstorms or car washes. I also have the velossatech big mouth and the grille opened up.
