I see it as annoying that Ford has nothing to do but destroy years of brand love and recognition and good will. Ford CLEARLY has no direction with the changes they have been making other than "we want to be like Tesla" which to me means they have HORRIBLE management.

I've honestly gone from a life long Ford and Mustang fan to now really wanting very little to do with them at all. My next car will likely be ANY other brand due to how they are acting right now. Not 4 years ago if I needed any vehicle it was no question I'd look at Ford first, others later. Now I'd look at Ford last.

If their new models suck, they deserve to be bashed for it.
I too am steering away from Ford as a lifelong loyal buyer and supporter. They are unfortunately now run by people that have no interest or enthusiasm for cars. They're all bean counters. I'll be the first to admit that this is the direction the automotive world is going as a whole, but to put the Mustang name on it, I think was just wrong.
I'm not going to lie, I kinda like the Mach E, just wish they named it something else.
Unfortunately, Ford has shown us in the last few years that they give ZERO fucks about us and what we think or want. If you think for one second that they do, good luck.

You know i wasn't going to to this because, well why bother, right? Now that Cobra Jet posted this I'm even more pissed.

Do not care if it matters or not, I'm in
Well shit, are we going to have to press 1 for English on the center screen?

It's worth a shot. Ford will have heard us loud and clear over the last couple of days, but another avenue can't hurt.

Don't forget, back in the early 90s, Ford was going to replace the Fox with a front wheel drive, transverse engine car. The internet didn't really exist.....so the Mustang faithful wrote letters to Ford HQ.......and they listened! That car became the Probe and Mustang continued as the SN95.

We have a voice. Whether Ford listens and reacts.....well, that remains to be seen.

Signed.
It was the mid 80's, and the front wheel drive Mustang replacement was the Probe. A huge petition signing campaign convinced Ford, ran by car guys at the time, that they should refresh the Mustang instead of rape it by replacing it with the monstrosity they had on deck. The Aero nose 87 mustang refresh was the product of this decision.

Not having a door handle isn't going to keep First Responders from getting into a vehicle... They'll break the glass, or grab the jaws of life. Then you get to enjoy your insurance company totaling out the Mistake-E you bought and granting you the opportunity to start over with a real Mustang. :like:
Did you read the Tesla article about door handles??
Not if the car is on fire. See the Tesla law suit, guy could not get out as the cabin was filling with smoke and burned alive.

A small tibit from the article: "As cool as they may be to some Tesla fans, the unique retractable door handles on the Tesla Model S are being faulted in a lawsuit over the death of a man in Florida. The man, Omar Awan, crashed into a tree in a Model S and was then unable to get out of the electric vehicle when the battery caught fire. The accident and death occurred in February."

I hadn't seen it, but chances are that if you're in a wreck that's bad enough to start a fire, not having handles won't matter because the doors are going to be crunched shut anyway. That's also not taking into consideration EMT/Fire actually being able to get to you in time.

All that being said, I'd still rather be in an ICE vehicle, with fuel shutoffs in place to limit the risk of fire, rather than an EV sitting on a few hundred pounds of runaway-prone lithium...

Ford got the new "Mustang" right like a McDonalds drive-thru gets your order right.

No V8 in the Raptor, probably no V8 in the Bronco, and now this Mustang Mach-er-E. Nice going, Ford.

Its the door handles or lack thereof that scare me... First responders will have no idea how to get you out in case of emergency, let alone a person inside that is panicking.

Tesla is being sued at the moment because of something similar.
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a29576096/tesla-model-s-lawsuit-door-handles-fire/
My understanding of the Tesla situation is that the car is design so that the door handles extend if the airbags go off. I can’t recall if this was a case of the airbags not going off, or that they did go off but the handles didn’t extend. If either of those situations occurred, it’s a problem for Tesla. The kid that was driving the car hit a tree or a pole or some other stationary object at high speed.

Don't be so quick to want one (why you would buy it at all is a mystery). Do you really think it won't be riddled with bugs and defects? Ford is just above avg on models they have had for years, so you would be crazy to think a brand new model with brand new tech will be solid. Wait until at least the next model year to see what catastrophes you missed and decide then. Tesla still has some major issues to work out, but they pale in comparison to the first few years. Also, you may find that some other mfr will be making one without the cheesy knock off (to both a Mustang and a Tesla) the Mach E is.
Oh, I wouldn't get one immediately, I would wait a while.

I had wanted a RHD Mustang for donkeys years. I bought a brand new 2018 GT and it was rubbish. The quality was just terrible, it leaked rain in to the point I had to drive it in galoshes. The Ford special dealer took 3 months and 25 days to pretend to cure the leak, they didn't cure it and I was put off the whole Mustang myth.
This quality problem is much more of a concern for the status of the Mustang name than a 4 door bev.
If quality was what was going to sink the Mustang, it would have happened decades ago. Sorry for your misfortune, but I have seen Audi's, Bimmers and Mercs all have similar annoying issues that would make you scream in anger at the dealer. There is always some that just aren't built right. Hopefully your next car is better.

Well, it’s great they gave it such a cool trademarked name... so just an FYI, MACHE is also known as a slang term.... (not sure where “towel” comes from though?)

And the batteries are being made in Poland from cells supplied by LG Chem according to this article:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/17/business/ford-mustang-electric-suv.html

but that doesn’t make real sense, because LG Chem is a South Korean company that already has a plant here in the US (and is supposed to be also building a 2nd plant) to manufacturer batteries. So I’m not sure why Ford would have to absorb additional costs importing the batteries, why not just manufacturer the needed batteries here?
