sold my 2018 GT350 :(
Sharing some updates.
Preparing the car for my next event (including a water spray on coolers :)
Those are my ferodo after 4 track days/time trials. (2 buttonwillow,1 streets of willow, 1 sonoma)
Pads are in great condition.
Ferodo might cost more but i think last way longer. And huge breaking power.
Gt350brakes.com is not only the guy helping improve my car, but his knoledge is huge. And that's why now I get ferodo.
I'm coming from GLOC R16 (and r12) front.
What are you running on the rear? Seems there is not a concensus on whether DSUNO, DS1.11 or DS2500 (stock). I am going to run DSUNO all around and see how it goes.

The contribution of brake power from the rear is almost none.
You could run OEM pads.
I put R10 gLoc on the rear pair with 2piece rotors steeda. Main issue in the rear is possible oveeheating due to the OEM reverse rotors. So i would suggest 2 piece on the rear too.
For the front rotors. I had GIRODISC for 8 track days. Sold them with 4 left at least.
I now have AP RACING rotors. Theynare half pound heavier than girodisc ( but still 10lbs lighter than OEM)
Ap racing has more vents and thinner fins for better ventilation. Both are great options.
Last but not the least.
Highly suggest are back plate for brake air duct solution. I now use the SPECFAB RACING plates. (Sal molinare. ) great stuff. My car is a GT18.
HOPE THIS HELP

Do the Raybestos st 43 pads ever go on sale (Black Friday?) or are they always $400 for front and $200 for rear?

Doesn’t look like they are on eBay and only a few sellers available.

They don't.
Also they have to be shaped for the mustang.

I really really love the FERODO DSUNO. They last lomgnand nrake very very hard.

Also the Raybestos last a loooooong time so money is saved on pads. However, I suspect since the pad life extends the rotor life my be sacrificed. Depending on track, the rotors are starting to micro crack after 2 days and my guess is they will last only 6-8 days total, maybe less. Right now I’m running the solid 2019 front rotors.

And here everyone was thinking the solid rotors are/would be better. Someone should collect some data to make the picture clearer.

Any brake rotor can and will develop heat checking. It's the nature of severe thermal cycling combined with iron not being a particularly ductile material. Crossdrilled holes start with that situation and make it worse.

It will be interesting time will tell, I noticed how every high performance car had drilled rotors are they all wrong?

Pad outgassing was once a truly serious issue, this being back in the 1960's as track speeds rose without pad development keeping pace. Holes were added to give the gases a place to go instead of basically floating the pads away from the rotors.

My pics in post #28 show after (2) days Watkins Glen with Raybestos ST45. New data point below shows an additional (1) day at NJMP Lightning with the same pads; biggest crack is about 1/4” long:

Have to keep an eye on it but the st45 is pretty high up there in aggressive pad and those are some high speed tracks. I don’t think that wear looks abnormal and you may only be 25% wear before the cracks get too big, which would be 12 days on such and aggressive pad and high speed track, makes sense.

I have low 20 track days with only oem pads and my rotors look like this. I’d say probably another 5 days left even, maybe more.

I just ordered a full set of st43 to use next year with my new flat rotors. Don’t see how the drilled could last longer than flat, for example notice where my big cracks originate from...

^^^ what tracks did u run for the 20 days? Would you characterize them as easy on brakes?
