Honestly, who prefers the GT 5.0 over GT350?

Owned a 17 350. Then lost it in the divorce. Now in a PPL2. The 350 felt a tad tighter. Maybe it was the recaros that felt tighter. The handling is nearly the same. There seems to be more power lower in the rpm in the 5.0 but when the voodoo is up it’ll smoke the coyote. There is def something to be said about a DOHC 5.0 v8. And yes, the voodoo is fucking special, I don’t care what set of pipes you put on the coyote. But when I did have an opportunity to buy a 350 I decided to get the PPL2 because of the following:

-maintenance: the 350 burns a quart of oil every 500-1000 miles. At least mine did. Then came the simply things. An oil change- fucking 10 quarts?!?!?! No thanks. I know it takes the same amount but I’m finding I burn way less in my coyote. Yes you have to pay to play but the 5.0 is easier to maintain. I also don’t mind parking it next to other people. I was super paranoid about where I parked the 350. Also better mpg

-insurance: way more for Me on the 350

-interior: way better in the pp2 with the 401a and the leather recaros.

I do prefer the sound, the transmission and the looks of the 350. And no color beats avalanche gray. Anyways, those be my 2 cents.

PP2 takes 10 quarts too...

I thought the PP2 was a better value than the GT350. Why I ordered a PP2 instead of picking up a GT350 off a lot.

You’re right. But I’m finding my coyote burns less oil than the 5.2 meaning I have to buy less oil

Coming from a 14 gt/cs it took me a while for the s550 to win me over. The pp1 15-17 cars where the only one’s that interested me in the looks department. The 18 pp1 really grabbed my attention. Over 7k off list (41,680 list) and only $450 for E85 tune and I’m running quicker than my 60k c7. Gt350 was not even on my radar.

My only real gripe about the 350 is the comparative lack of bottom end driving around town. My brief drive in one was primarily in town, and I found it lacking unless I drove it like an asshole. IMO, they need 4.09s in the pumpkin to be what I'd want. Definitely a true track car.

Beyond that, they're a little spartan inside, and I like the little cush that a premium GT has. I considered getting a 350 a couple of times (and almost did the last time), but I personally didn't think it was worth it since I've got my lowly GT setup like I want it, and I'm lucky to drive it once a week so little point in changing. Meh. Paranoid about Voodoo longevity too, GT short blocks are cheap.

If someone comes up to me and says, hey I'll give you a brand new Mustang GT PP2 or a Brand new GT350. I'm taking the GT350 without hesitation.
That engine is special. That car is special. If i had a GT350 Id probably spend all sunday on backroads collecting tickets like I'm at chucky cheese's.
My GT PP1 is like a perfect steak from your favorite steakhouse. Good grill marks, perfectly seasoned, and utterly delicious. But the GT350 is the same experience just with certified Waygu aged beef. c'mon now.

Can I afford one? No, I'm 28 and I have a mortgage. I'm lucky I could swing my GT.

I hope they drop a 10r80 or 10r90 option into the 2021 gt350, it would be an absolute contender for drag racing anything and also on the track I think it would be faster and easier to use, especially with mods.
Not happening. Ford is keeping the 350 manual so Shelby buyers have a manual/driver's car offering. Right from the horse's mouth btw.

And disclaimer, not every GT350 guzzles oil like a porn star guzzles..................milk.

Mine has burned 2.5 quarts total in its entire life. 18,000 miles. That's less than a quart per oil change. Hundreds of autocross runs, 10 track days, and daily driving.

Depends on what you wanna do with it. If free, I'd take the more expensive car and sell it lol. Joking aside, GT for drag racing (10R80 all day) and GT350 for road course. 18+ GT on E85 and FBO makes near 480-490whp SAE on a 10spd and will destroy a GT350 all day at the drags. My buddy's 18 GT 10R80 FBO with ported CJ runs high 10's all motor and Steeda is well below that already with bolt ons and weight reduction stuff. I have never seen a GT350 all motor crack a 10. FBO GT is going to make nearly the same HP as the GT350 but with a lot more torque.

GT350 will smoke a GT modded up at the road course. All there is to it though, way better suspension setup and gearing/tranny for it. GT350 better for resale also for sure.

For the guys who prefer the GT over a Shelby GT350. You just need to drive one. Its a different car and it will all be clear once you get past 5K. The engine sound and Tremic manual are just sublime. My neighbor has a 18 GT. Comes over frequently and we chat cars. The other day I let him take a spin in my 17 350 (with me in the car). Told him to wind it up a bit. He came back kinda freaked out. The next morning he confessed he could not sleep that night. Currently he is on the hunt for a 16 or 17 lightly used 350.

To each his own, i wouldnt trade my 18 FBO for a GT350 for anything, but I drag race. Hence my comments above. I actually prefer the sound of my exhaust setup over the GT350 too. The high revs sound cool for sure but i wouldnt buy a car on that alone.

Disclaimer: I don't track my car.

The GT PP1 with MR is close to the GT350 in handling. The GT350 has the superior engine. The GT PP1 has a better interior and sounds better (to me).

But no 401a, no A10, and you will have to chop the roof off to compare to my GT vert.

So the GT PP1 is my ride..

I'm sorry but the only reason to prefer the Gt is if you can't afford the GT350 or if you can't enjoy driving a stick.
It's funny how "you can't afford it" comments usually pop up whenever there's a trim comparison thread, whether it's EB vs GT or GT vs GT350/GT500).

This reminds me of an ongoing GT500 ADM thread where a guy bashes everyone who questions paying ADMs on GT500's as being poor, yet later on, mentioned that he's paying ~$85 after a little ADM and getting a loan for up to $70K. He'll be upside down as soon as he drives the car off the lot!

I think the problem is people are always looking to pick apart others when they own a different trim level, which is a stupid thing to do. These threads always turn into a crowd of idiots spewing mental vomit as they line up and jerk each other off.

i don’t know why, but I actually prefer the 5.0 GT with PP over the GT350... the things I do like about the gt350 better is the front fascia, kinda the teemed 6 speed. I hate the black toggle switches and no ambient lighting. I do love the sound of the GT 5.0 better especially with a good catback.
Feel the same way about my 2019 PP1 I feel like I am not missing out on anything.
