And how would that happen? The BMS affects alternator charging, it can’t shut off your external charger. That’s simply not how electricity works 🤣

Battery saving mode shuts off items in the car that draw amperage.
Laugh all you want but several people have reported that their charges have quit charging the battery when hooked to the fuse box and chassis ground. Definitely not everyone, or even a lot, but it has been reported.

Hence why you hook up to the battery positive and chassis ground…just like the manual says, and what I’ve been repeating….so yes I’ll keep laughing.

It won’t damage the car or anything by hooking up to the battery but eventually the BMS won’t have a clue what the state of charge is and once the battery ages out you could find yourself with a dead car and Murphy’s Law says that’ll happen at the worst possible time lol. It doesn’t take any more effort to hook the negative to the strut tower vs. the battery, so I suggest following the recommendation in the owners manual and hooking it up as it says to.
I plan to, I have a few days coming up & will be hooking it up along with a few other upgrades. I saved one of the pics posted to use as a reference. Thank you!

How are you guys hooking up to your battery lead?

That little bolt seems to hold a chalk block that tightens the main power terminal hookup?

Yep, just pull that nut off but be careful, as it holds a pair of slip locks in it.

Yeah I had it VERY loose but decided to tighten it up again as I wasn't sure that this was the right process. Been trying to find a YouTube on it lol

Put a shop towel under it when you pull the nut off, just in case 😉

This thing just came turning and turning and turning. I don’t know how long the bolt is or whether there is another nut underneath one of those chalk blocks that is spinning and not catching on anything.

You may need to hold the bottom of the bolt with a pair of pliers.

It’s a while since I did it, but I seem to recall that you need to hold the bolt head up / in position with a finger under it so it locks in place allowing you to undo the nut :like:

Yeah had to hold it down.

Thanks all. I have it wired in and it's doing it's thing. I also made sure to unplug everything and fire up the car to make sure I didn't f that up.

I do need to use my engine bay cleaner though when it gets closer to spring time lol
