Yup, you gonna be upgraded, my friend. Silver lining here! I wonder if a Ford warranty replacement like this with the upgraded engine will increase value more than the fact that it's not the original engine. It certainly could!
With all I’ve read, this might be the case. If these updated ‘19 engines have less problems, could be worth more!

Does anyone know if the upgraded oil pump gear is going to be on the GT350 engine or just the GT500? I assume the head gaskets and the heads are model specific.

I know the block changes and such are the same for all Shelby's.

Add me to the list :(
New 2017 (sat at the dealer for 2 years with crazy ADM) with 161 miles on the ODO that I bought about 3 weeks ago.
Now has 1616 miles. I started to notice the power dropping under acceleration then got a bad metallic knocking from the top end of the engine. It's at the dealer waiting warranty eval. Crossing fingers I get a gen2 voodoo and it's replaced quickly/correctly.

I wonder how many redline runs on a cold engine were done on your car while sitting at the dealership for two years.

The 17 I bought summer of 18 had 1510 miles on it and you couldn’t even roll it around the parking lot unless you did a credit check. No revving the engine and there was no test drives allowed.

I honestly belive maybe we had a bad batch in 17. My car had 4 miles on it. I have a pic. It was roped off inside the main office of the dealership. But yet right at 6k, it went boom. Everyone has read the thread, "Add me to the list nobody wants to be on." Now I have the 19k R engine in and she is running real nice. So who knows ? I believe Ford may have the bugs out now, but wow it seems 17 was the year the bad parts was rolled up to the plant and used.

Keep us up to date on the oil consumption. I’m taking mine in as soon as I have a short work day.

So, there are about 41 failures in the poll. There are 1,800 posts and 116k views.

41/1800 = 2.3%
41/116000 = .-35%
and about 20,000 cars built to date, so 41/20000 = .2%

Feel free to draw your own conclusions as to failure rates.

There are probably more failures than just the ones 41 listed here......you really cant use that number. You could compare that number to all registered users of this forum. Only Ford knows the actual failure rate. And they will never tell us. I'm sure in some annual report buried way back, they must have some accounting code for it, as each one costs them over 20K to replace.

Yea, I know. When the Porsche 911 996 and Boxsters had failure issues, it took a class action suite to make that data public.

As for numbers, you can't use registered users on the forum since most are regular mustang owners. I have a spreadsheet someone started a while back that listed about 60 failures as of about a year ago. So if you quadruple that and divide by about 18,000 built by that time, that's still 1.3%.

But as you said, there's only one entity that really knows.

My 2nd replacement engine feels good, no oil consumption, exhaust tips are clean. About 200 miles on it so far.

Got 8K on mine.....no issues and yes the tips are soot free. Uses 1 quart of oil perhaps in 3.5K miles. Highway and backroads driving, no track....but highway at sustained 100+ MPH. Now to get than damm flex plate thing sound gone, and it will be perfect.

Hey guys,
I have been trolling this thread for quite a while and kept going back and forth on whether to purchase a 350 and have the possibility of dealing with this issue. I'm back in the hunt again.. seems to me that both the 17's and 18's were both susceptible to this. At least the early builds of the 18's. Either way... the "golden ticket" seems to be a 19 engine; although we don't have enough history on the 19's yet to see how they fare.. Maybe I should be looking at a 2019 and just have them swap out that ridiculous wing for the standard and a set of Michelin PSS to replace the Cup2's.
If I do go the used route I'm going to drive it like "Nastystang" and make sure that if it fails it fails early and within warranty....

Not for nothing but it does seem like more 17's and 18's and not nearly as many 16's have had engine failures? I am also on the GT350 owners Facebook group page and that seems to be consistent with those that have actually posted failures. Or is it just me??
