His replacement Robert Oppenheimer Jr. says that our troubles are over by putting a Whipple Supercharger on the Coyote and putting that in the Super Duty! Look at my blackboard with all those obscure squiggles on it - I am smart!
Laugh all you want. In the next 15 years, I guarantee you will see a super duty with a small turbo 6 or 4 mated to a hybrid system. It will have instant torque as well. My old company, Cummins, is already heavily invested in hybrid system development. When one of the top engine companies in the country is dumping money and resources into something, you know where the trend is going.

Yup!

Though I think the future is electric. Just watching Elon Musk show how much faster their semi accelerates with a full load vs. the diesel was a real sell. They moved on before the regular semi got up to highway speed! :cwl: Of course the sticking issue is payload but the range is there for everything but true linehaul...

The immediate future is hybrid. That will be the next 10-20 years. From 20-40 years, everything will move to EV and fuel cell. As much as I love ICE, I am looking forward to working on the new technology as it comes.

7.3 ruffles more feathers than a LS swap......sheesh.
I understand people love the Coyote....
But I also understand that some people don't.
I really feel that the 7.3 and the 3.5TT should be offered.

I love bottom end tq/hp and top end tq/hp.
Why can't we have both?
That's because

1. LS swaps into S550s are extremely rare
2. LS engines are performance engines as is, not heavy duty truck engines.

I agree the 3.5TT should be offered as I detailed a page or two ago. Ford can easily tweak the 3.5TT to the application it is being used for. I just don't know how well the market would accept it

You’re a brave man around here...

The 3.5TT is the natural replacement for the Coyote. If demand shrinks even more they will just cut all production and replace the 5.0 with the 3.5TT producing way more power and be done with it. Then Godzilla is your only option. Maybe a slightly modified Ford crate version 7.3 that swaps in... :like:

Demand for the Coyote has only shrunk for the F-150, which is understandable given that it has 4 other engine choices.

IIRC take rate of V8 mustangs was well over 40%

Fair enough but that’s two production lines. A destroked Godzilla could take the Coyote’s place if demand eventually dropped. It could keep the V8 alive especially in the F150. Can’t see anyone complaining there about a pushrod.

As much as I wish you were correct......LS/S550 swaps are becoming common.
Drag racing
Drifting
These are the two venues where you see this happening the most.

I do believe IRS is coming to the F-150 very soon.
There is at least one very complex Coyote getting ready to be revealed.
The 7.3 or a variant is being talked about.

Ford being able to stream line down to one engine family is possible.
6.2 and the 5.0 could be on the chopping block as far as the F Series is concerned.

If the Coyote is no longer offered in the F-150, it's only a matter of time before
the Mustang gets the 7.3 and hopefully in alloy form.

Go to the races.......instead of the internet.
Look for yourself.
While there, please enjoy the sport and the people.

I’ll give the guy a point for this statement. The idea that if it is not on the net then it does not exist is wrong and funny at the same time.

The statement to enjoy the sport and people
is cute - but ok.
