Ah, so now the people of Ford are so inept they can’t put the 7.3 in the Mustang anymore than I could.....
Engineering is expensive. Putting a 7.3 in an s550 is a major engineering project that would take months or even years. They aren’t just sitting around with nothing to do and suddenly think, “hey let’s just stick this dump truck engine right here in that car right there and make it go vroom!”

Tweaking an existing 2.3 is one thing. Transplanting an entire drivetrain is multiple orders of magnitude more complicated/expensive/time consuming. Comparing the two is absurd.

... Only Mike could do it and he has all these equations and graphs with no info on the engine to show it can’t happen....
Appreciate it if you stop telling lies about me. I never said that it can’t happen....just that it shouldn’t.

By the way there are like five trolls in this thread...
I don't doubt that. There's no way this thread got to 94 pages without trolls, spam, and off-topic nonsense. I'm surprised the mods haven't locked this sucker yet lol.

I don't think OP has even driven an 18/19 GT with E85. Even with wider stickier tires, I have traction issues from 2k rpm on with full throttle input. I don't understand wanting even more unusable power on the street.

They haven’t locked it because we have educated trolls and the discourse is informative and interesting and sometimes funny.

No I have not but it’s a non-issue till Ford solves their block problems and tightens the tolerances to where they were supposed to be.

Anyways Mike the engineers at this place went the extra mile. Sometimes they would do things after hours just for the love of it.

Heck, I almost drove over one of them one winter as I was inside getting something and one of the engineers crawled under this experimental hybrid vehicle they designed, to check the condition of a battery bracket he engineered. I hopped out the door get in the vehicle and he starts hollering at me! Funny as hell at the time - dedication! I love that!

There isn't enough evidence that Ford has a block tolerance issue. Also, any tolerance issue would be from manufacturing rather than design. Basically, if they have problems with this engine, it is likely they have issues with others. It sounds like you have more issues with questionable Ford quality than anything else. Thus, wanting to swap in another Ford production line engine wouldn't alleviate your concerns. I think you should just end this thread and buy a Chevy.

Here is the thing.

While there may be no definitive numbers affected and the exact block issues - there is enough evidence for me to hold off buying one until my concerns are addressed. The V6 runs like a champ with zero issues for the time being. Going back to an iron block is a gamble many of us would take over new processes that may not have been fleshed out yet.

You do know there's a warranty right? Plenty of happy 18-19 owners out there who beat on their cars. I think if you had a V8 to begin with there'd be no need for this thread. The new Coyotes are pretty darn quick.

My Windsor went 18 years 375,000km with zero issues even when I sold it to a restorer. I keep my cars a long time and six years or 100,000 km is not good enough!

Fatguy, I don't quite understand why you like to troll so much.

You were on an EV binge for the last couple months and then switched over to the 7.3L when it was announced. What's next? Maybe you aren't just a troll...maybe you troll because you are bored. I don't know!
Fatguy was all about how awesome the EV's were....then it was the 3.7 v6.....then it was the 7.3....then it was the new 330 hp 2.3 (even bragged about how the lighter weight was better than the 5.0 even though he said the weight of the 7.3 didn't matter). Eric427 loves the LSx and even the 3.5 ecoboost even though he railed against how complicated the 5.0 is.

Both of these guys just hate the 5.0.

Ask yourself this - will putting an engine that is not designed for the car end up anymore reliable? I'm betting the Ford "loose tolerance" Coyote as you call it has a higher likelihood of being reliable.

"cast iron block, a pushrod design, and port injection." Fatguy, If you wanna add weight, & have less RPM and kill the overall balance of the Mustang, go ahead and drop in the 7.3L.
Cast iron block, a pushrod design, and port injection are all pluses to me. Weight is a negative. Less rpm is a big plus! Overall balance? The V6 is he only car I owned that didn’t feel nose heavy. Unlike he guys who came from 4 cylinders, this one is like coming home!
