Well this project got shut down before it hardly got started. Attached are pics from the Iowa DOT denying the plate ECOTERD. It must be offensive because I know for a fact that the plate is available and not registered to anyone. So with that in mind welcome to the resurrection of a mistreated 2015 EcoBoost.
I purchased this car as a bank repossession. It was very apparent that the car had been abused over the last year. A turbosmart kompact dual bov had been installed cranked up to the max. The back tires have about 150,000 miles on them and the front look brand new.
Long story short after getting it home I diagnosed the problem with number 3 cylinder. I believe it has a hole in the piston due to excessive crankcase pressure that the car is producing. That and #3 had 0 compression.
With that I purchased a 28,000 mile long block to install. The car will have a jlt cold air intake, the kompact bov, an ETR intercooler, one step colder plugs and a custom tune. (Havent decided on a tuner just yet) Goal for the car is to get it back to a nice driver that makes 325+ rwhp under $10,000. Stay tuned!

I have spent the better part of today just trying to get connections unhooked and I can tell you right now without a lift, there would be a lot of crawling under the car and then back above the car. I just swapped a motor in a 2011 Ford Edge Limited it had to come out the bottom and there were about half as many connections as there are in this car for some reason.

Got all the connectors disconnected, some of them were a little tricky to get at. Ended up taking off the downpipe because i kept hitting my head on it....ouch. Access to many of these bolts was not what i would call easy. This could definitely be done without the use of a lift but I don't think that I would even attempt it for fear I would pull my hair out from frustration. Also if you have a nice garage floor and don't like to get fluids on it...do not do this in your garage. There is no good way to capture all of the various fluids that seem to come out from every orifice of this engine. And just when you think a fluid is empty all the sudden it will puke more out when you haven't touched it for an hour and a half. There are all kinds of engine lift eye devices.I simply put a 8 mm grade 8 bolt thru a chain into the hole where the factory wants you to use their lifting device.(part # 303-050). All I have to do is unbolt the last two bolts holding it to the K member and it can come out, but for tonight I'm pooped. Added a few more pics.

Cool build. Really clutch having the lift in there, so much easier on the body not having to crawl under it. Is the color guard?

Yep its the Guard. I worked on cars for 25+ years without a lift. Now i dont know how i ever got by without one. If you have the room, buy one, you will use it way more than you think and its great to stack cars to turn a single bay into a 2 car bay.

Ahhh jealous of the lift and now the fox body too! I had a 90 coupe I completely built with just jack stands and it was miserable. No way I could do that now hahahaha!

Dumping any money into the suspension or is this just a daily driver?

So another little helpful trick to support the transmission when you have the motor out. Rather than a floor jack and all that pita...just go to your local steel supply shop by a small piece of rod. Lay it across the engine cradle and let your transmission sit on it. Too easy! I think this piece cost me like $3

Also modified the metal bracket that protects the high pressure fuel pump on top side of motor. It protects the pump but not the electrical connector. When you are doung things by yourself you tend to have to rock the enigine around to get everything in place. Well that will snap off the electrical connector. So here you go, you are welcome Ford. No royalties necessary. Side by side with the stock one. Then pic of it installed. As you can see i found out the hard way about the connector.

Well its in. But it fought me the whole way. The only way this motor is gonna go in without having to remove the motor mounts completely, is to remove the high pressure fuel pump and some other stuff. Im still not sure it would work. It simply cannot be raised high enough to clear the excessively long motor mount studs. Giant pita. Anyway its bolted in. So now look at the motor mounts, they double as a vacuum reservoir and even have a rubber bladder in them. See pics...never seen anything like this in my 46 years.

Hmmmm... is the design of the S550 EB motor mount to absorb the “buzz” from the 2.3? If I recall, the original 84-86 SVO’s had a single dampener that quelled some of the 2.3 buzziness.

Keep up the updates, not many 2.3 builds like this one.

Are you going to dismantle the blown 2.3 to see the internal damages?

Yes im going to tear it down once i get the car operational, which should be today since my turbo oil feed filter and my low pressure fuel sensor showed up yesterday.

Im not sure what they are for but the lines come up and connect on the drivers framerail into a myriad of others. A co worker who has a 15 comp orange GT(beautiful 5400 mile car) said he does not have these. So yes it appears to be an Eco exclusive feature.

So another thing about this car that really didn't sit well with me was how fluids run everywhere. As you can see in the picture when you go to drain the coolant out it runs everywhere, on the engine cradle, down the cradle, across the front support. Etc .. it just makes a giant mess. So I took a piece of clear plastic tubing( rubber would be fine too) just make sure whatever you use has at least a 5/16" ID. You feed it up through a hole in the frame and attach it on to the drain tube. Should be mess free drains after this. First few pics show coolant everywhere. Last one is tube attached and how much i left sticking out the bottom of front engine cradle.
