From a 15GT/PP with a bunch of Steeda parts under it and now a 1SS/1LE...the 1LE is the better chassis and the price between the two, either a PP1, PP2, or Bullitt...1LE is cheaper. And better.

i think you'll see with the PP2 lap times, the 1LE isn't the better chassis. The GT350 has already proven that. The 1LE however has hands down better track components (over the Bullitt). The OP however has already stated he will never track either one of these vehicles which negates the whole intent of the 1LE package in the first place. The Boss will most likely be a bit quicker in a straight line and (on the road) handle nearly the same. His decision shouldn't be on which car handles better at the track, but what car is going to suit (and satisfy) him best for the street.

Some people just like the wheels and the sticker on the hood of the 1Le. The OP will find out soon enough. if he's bought the perfect street car. Or just made a bad decision once he spends his hard earned money.

Indeed. I'm OK with spending money on extra options up front, but most of the money he'll be spending on the upgrades will never be noticed. In other words, he's spending an extra $7000 for wheels and a steering wheel over the base 1SS. Yikes!

You're right though, will find out soon enough.

I simply love the 1LE package and what it entails: the wheels, the sueded steering wheel and shift knob, the handling...
Wait a few months and that alcantara breaks down and looks like crap. It's also a b!tch to maintain. The Camaros are even more cheaply made than the Mustang and less attention to detail. GM is the bottom of the barrel in that dept. There's still ongoing issues with the Camaros that aren't inconsequential.

Alcantara is easy to maintain. Soupy water w/wet towel, then clean wet towel, then dry towel.
Comes out fresh & looking new.

You don't have to be delicate & can even brush it when dry. True alcantara is durable.

What exactly do you mean by bad decision?

Anything I'm missing?

By bad decision. I mean buying a 1Le strictly for a steering wheel . And the other things you absolutely adore about the 1Le. Track oriented cars. Are compromises on the daily commute. The ride is usually worse. The wide tires make a lot more noise and don't deal with road imperfections as well. There ridiculous in bad weather. I'm not suggestion getting a Mustang. I'm just suggesting you take a loooooong test drive in a 1Le. And make sure you can live with a track oriented car. That's never going to see the track. You can do a lot of customizing to a 1ss for the price of the 1Le package.

SMH. These replies man.

OP. It seems that you would enjoy the 1LE much more. It seems that although you are not going to track the car you still want something with really good handling. If that is true then get the 1LE. The Bullitt will not handle as well as the 1LE. I don't know your reasons for wanting a Bullitt because you didn't really mention any. It will retain more of it's value. How much that means to you I don't know. It will also cost more so consider that as well. So my suggestion is to just get the 1LE. Oh and if you plan to mod the car then I'd get the 1LE so as not to ruin a Bullitt.

At the price of a Bullitt some other options would be a used GT350 or a used ZL1. If you want something to mod then get a GT and have at it.

What kind of handling do you need on the street though? Everyone has different needs but I think I am missing something. I can understand maybe if you are street racing in a place where there are turns if that even exists?

I had to join up just to troll this thread :D. Not really, I like both the GT and SS. Neither car would be as good as it is if there was no compitition.

The 1LE in tour mode is surprisingly comfortable. Yes, it does tend to follow the road imperfections but it's easy to deal with. It's not too bad in the rain, leave all the nannies on and it keeps the rear end under control. Of course, this is also my toy car. If the weather is going to be bad it stays in the garage.. what I really don't understand is the people who buy a 'stang, camaro, or any other sports car as a daily driver someplace where you get bad weather. These aren't meant to be practical, everyday cars. I bought it to have fun, not haul lumber.

It's really fun to pull 1G up the cloverleaf when you get the chance. Nobody needs 400+ horsepower on the street, either.

The Bullitt comes with magneride shocks and Michelin PS4 tires. It’s going to be able to pull a G on an entrance ramp. Some of you seem to think the Bullitt is going to handle like a mid 70s Caddy, and that’s just not the case. These two are going to handle very similarly on public roads. The Bullitt will just be faster in a straight line.

Have you test driven a 1LE and a 2018 GT w/ magneride and Michelin PS4? It'll probably come down to which one you feel more comfortable in.

Where's your data?

The SS 1LE does 0-60 mph in 4.1/quarter 12.4@116 mph.

With 20 hp less than the untested Green Stang, the manual trans 18 Mustang GT runs 4.3/12.6@115 mph.

The movie car might equal the 1LE's acceleration with it's extra ponies. Maybe ...

So if you can stand the Camaro's limited outward visibility (I couldn't), and taking into account cost (1SS, not 2SS 1LE: $44,995, Bulitt: $46,595), the decision becomes clearer.

Unless again, you have a thing for movie cars (I don't), green paint (I don't), paying more $$ (I don't), and Ford Mustangs (I most certainly do).

The GT/10 spd auto/PP2 would be a better comparison.
