Ok, I had someone tell me that there are motor differences between the R and non-R... I called B.S. Can we clarify that the motor is exactly the same?

Yes, the physical engine parts are exactly the same on the assemblies.

I really think they should have squeezed out at least another 50hp into the R (somehow). Would justify the going rate for these bad boys vs the non-R. Think of how Porsche does it, Turbo vs Turbo S models etc.

For a while there, it was looking like the timing chain was different between the 2 until Ford Performance corrected their website at, what I believe was Epiphany urging.

They can be hard headed at times. I learned some details regarding the backdrop of the error but still want to know who at FR thought there was a difference in the chains without ever verifying it with the production engineers. I suspect they overheard the moron that 96Cobra quoted and ran with it.

This. lol.
The blurred out individual is delusional and suffers from his own wishful thinking that has become self fulfilling prophecy. The PCM's are indeed calibration specific but the physical engine hardware is exactly the same on every GT350 engine that is assembled on the Niche line.

I was there at the powertrain reveal and had lengthy discussions with the engineers directly responsible with 5.2 engine development. Trust me, and sorry to any delusional R owners, your engine assembly is exactly the same as the lowly, regular GT350's out there.

Copy and paste the entire link below into your browser and remove the space between SVT and Performance. This is an article I wrote on the engine hardware while at SVT's headquarters in the summer of 2015.

Except for IF they did that, they would have just detuned the non R from where it's at.

I personally think they should have set the r further sort with more suspension stuff. Maybe coilovers and carbon ceramic breaks. The peak hp really shouldn't be a huge talking point on a track focused car imo.

I second this... Maybe just maybe it could have justified the ADM

There was commentary from Pericak regarding the fact that the R model did not have resonators. He mentioned that R owners should just know they have a couple more horsepower as a result but that it wasn't enough to recertify.

There was a one-upper at my work that would always insist his Fox Mustang was "special" and had components from the factory that none other did. Of course this was immediately after I was telling him about the Maximum Motorsports rear suspension I added to my car, so he was under duress. ;)

Seems like a similar situation here.

Thick in the skull indeed. It's lighter, better tires, better aero. No kidding it feels different.

Also it's not a matter of opinion, it's FACT. Part a Voodoo together and they'll be the same part numbers.
