E85 and Sai Li Fuel System

Well I finally ordered the return style system. My logs were not looking great when trying to add in timing up top with the JMS BAP over 7k rpm and E85 is a lot cheaper than 100 octane at the end of the day and more powerful. For those that were originally tuned 93 with Lund and went E85 how did the previous 93 tune work after install. Sai Li said set to 58psi and 0 vac that it would be the same. Can anyone confirm that is the case from experience through doing this themselves?

I just finished up my tuning for e85 on the Sai li system. I was running 91 and torco before the switch. Lund told me my old gas tune was no good and they would need to retune on gas before tuning on e85 (or at least it was easier for Lund to tune it that way).

But I would check with Lund to see if that would work.

I love it, it is much easier and cheaper than using torco.

I am mechanically challenged (sad considering I'm a mech engineer), this install is not bad at all.

Boost is 12 psi @7,300 rpm (5.00 pulley). Timing is capped at 20 degrees on my daily tune and capped at 21 on my "race" tune. It looks like from the logs the knock sensors still might want to add a little more timing but I don't want to push it too much. Ethanol content tests out at 70% where I am at so my timing is lower than some people's.

I put it on the dyno yesterday and it went from 644 whp to 714 whp (LTH no cats also added since other dyno).

I am really happy I made the switch though the car feels really strong, be ready to fill up all the time though. My mpg is about 10.5 now.

When I converted to E85 on the Sai Li system I also did a intake manifold change. Lund had me data log on 93 first until we got the system dialed in then we switched to E85. He provided me a tune for each.
To your point the regulator was set @58psi no hose connected.

Hardest part for me was getting the lock ring off. This was the first time I have ever touched the fuel system.. and pretty much anything else on my car lol

I've never done the install, and mechanically I am borderline retarded. BUT, when you do the install, if you need an extra set of hands, let me know. I'd love the experience of learning this install, as I've considered the same fuel system for mine. My only question/concern is how rough is e85 on our engine internally? Like piston rings and such... does the alcohol eat away at them?

If you ever tear down an engine that has ran E85 it is spotless. Remember the same engine is in the f150 and they are flex fuel from the factory...no difference other than we have to get a custom tuner to turn it on.

That's been my experience as well seeing e85 motors that have been torn down.
