Interesting... I'm going to look into this over the weekend, any negative impacts or issues? I have thought about removing the weatherstripping to help exhaust heat but never went through with it. I typically see CHT temps ~220 in stop and go traffic at 85deg ambient, highest I have ever seen was 225. Running tstat that came with the Whipple. If you are FI screwing around in stop n go traffic you can easily hit 245 CHT.
I saw a massive difference after venting the rear of the hood: MAX CHT from 245F down to 215F!
1. Get the Reische 170 version 2
2. Vent the rear of the hood. I was able to put my upper grill BACK IN after this since the problem is getting air OUT from under hood more than getting it IN.
To vent the rear:
a. Remove battery cover.
b. Remove wiper blade arms: unscrew arm nut a thread or two, place soft wood block UNDER arm near shaft, tap on nut with hammer or another block of wood forcing shaft off of arm supported by wood. It can be PITA to get arm to release from taper shaft the first time as its forged on due to soft metal.
c. Then remove coping.
d. Carefully remove weatherstrip from underside of hood.
PM if this doesnt lower your traffic temps at least 20F even with stock tstat.
