My car is not me. I am not my car.

The best part of shared enthusiasm for anything - car, boat, house, obscure eastern European national anthems - is a bunch of like minded people getting together and being happy and excited to talk about whatever is cool about that shared enthusiasm.

The worst part of shared enthusiasm is when a bunch of like minded people get together to shit on whatever they consider beneath them - the "wrong" cosmetic mod, the "lesser" trim level, the "bad" trade-in deal.

The reality is that to most people, cars are fancy appliances, and we're weird for loving them as much as we do. In light of that, it's bullshit to be tearing down anyone else who shares our enthusiasm, just because they see a trim level, or a mod, or whatever in a different light.

On the other hand, send me $2 for that Ecoboost video. It's super funny you guys.
I think this is something a lot of people lose sight in. I think as long as it makes you happy, do it. I know a lot of people who enjoy the V6, same for the EB. It seems majority really enjoy the GT, it is only the value proposition over the EB that most don't enjoy (insurance, gas, etc).

That perhaps might be the biggest problem for me. My insurance is about 60 bucks cheaper going to an EB. But, that's something to consider when my time comes to get one.

LOL, I had a tuned EB with a few mods.. now from 3-4k vs the PP 5.0, it almost felt the same with the EB feeling a bit more torquier.

But try pulling them both to redline and that's where there's a big difference. EB will have to have the warranty voided just to get close to a 5.0. IMO opinion it's just not worth it to me.. Add a few bolt-ons with the reliable Coyote and it will be night and day.

And the biggest difference is the obvious.. the exhaust note :)
Well there's a reason I went X-Pipe and Muffler Delete within 24 hours of buying the car. I never got my warranty voided, and I stayed even with a stock GT from Dig-Mid 3rd Gear. It's just the top end like others have pointed out that is the different really.

20k Miles in 10 months and I had zero problems. But the car was about to touch 40k miles with an abusive first year. Didn't want to take the risk any further even though I shouldn't have been that paranoid.

Having owned an EB, I think its a better autocross car. Especially if you are willing to go aftermarket. For the price of a PP GT, you have a ton of money to play with on a PP EB.
Totally agree. I autocross'd my Ecoboost and it was a great performer. Faster than GT's on most layouts due to the torque advantage down low and keeping the car in the right gear. Even on track, I took it to Sebring twice and it felt AWESOME. The only weakness was the car needing an additional oil cooler. But most street cars on track do

When I went from the EB to the GT, I honestly expected more of a performance bump than I got. The GT doesn't really *feel* faster, per se. Totally different power characteristics.

In fact, for awhile, I was posting slower times. But that was my own fault. The EB I had was auto. Easy launch. The GT is stick, and it took me awhile to get the launching down. Even so, from a dig, an auto EB guy gets a nice little jump on me. By second gear, though, I'm pulling him. By third, he's in the rearview. Still, it takes a bit, and you really have to work the car to do it.

From a roll, it ain't even fair. I've roasted every EB who wanted a go from a 60 roll. Downshift. Go. In the high RPM band, the Coyote sings. From a roll, this car is competitive with cars that, by all logic, ought to be a lot faster. She loves her high RPMs. The EB didn't (even after I had it tuned).

But even after all that, the seat of the pants feel was still stronger in the EB. That's probably because the Coyote has a nice, smooth power build to about 6500 or so, then a moderate, slow drop from the peak. You sometimes forget how fast you are going, or that you are driving that much power.

The EB was.. different. It would feel gutless for a moment, then the turbo kicks in, and you have gobs of torque. Back into your seat you go. Then, just as suddenly, the torque would drop off again somewhere north of 5700-ish. Greater contrast. Less of a smooth build up of power, so you feel it more.

Yeah, the two motors are in the same car. But they don't feel the same. They felt like totally different cars. Both good vehicles, though.

I'm in the same boat... maybe even worse. My Ecoboost had the Roush power upgrade that put that 4 banger even closer to GT numbers.

Granted I didn't own the EB long enough to really get to thrash it and I've only had the GT for a little over a day but both cars are/were fun in their own way.

The EB felt more nimble and better balanced with the lighter front end. More like a sports car than a muscle car.

Everything about the GT feels heavier (obviously) but it's still the same chassis. The added weight and HP makes this car feel less like a sports car and more like... wait for it... a grand tourer

When it comes to the soundtrack, the EB never stood a chance. This is my 2nd V8 Mustang but the 4.6L in my 2001 never sounded as angry as this thing... and that's with the car 100% stock.

While I will enjoy the shit out of my GT, I would gotten just as much enjoyment out of my EB had the engine not been built out of glass :frusty:

I still swear by my EB, no issues with it so far. That seat of the pants feel at the bottom with the insane TQ is priceless and a bit scary at times when the car snaps. Keeps you on your toes.

I do miss the GT growl, but of all the times I thought about it I keep going back to the EB. The times I would want the top end of the GT are minimal since I don't live above 80MPH often. Perhaps with the refresh I'll look again (Had my EB since Oct '14, second in FL or so they said). There is nothing wrong with both cars, they just serve different purposes & driving characteristics.

Bonus: I drove a '16 V6 Camaro, and '16 Mustang V6 just for kicks. I couldn't own either, felt so gutless downlow.

These responses, along with the value of the EB are why I keep coming back to it. That, MPG and insurance difference (32 bucks for me).

You can really tell who has the GT as their first "fast" car on this forum. Its kind of sad that on chevy forums they talk about being better than the mustang but on the mustang forum they talk about being better than the lower trim levels.
You can also spot the new angry guy that will be trading in for a v8 in two years. We've only seen it about a million times already:doh: welcome to the forum latest angry 4 banger owner.

Well its because the eb/v6 owners usually get the most crap from well......mustang gt owners.
Most v8 mustang owners hate us with a passion.

i don't understand why that is. I tried the Ecoboost and found it very fun to drive. The only reason I went with the GT was because of the Sound and it was a tight decision. Other than that the Ecoboost is awesome. Thumbs up to you Ecoboost drivers. Im not being sarcastic, i honestly like the new engine.

I found the ecoboost to be much better at cornering than the GT, and it seemed to be a little more responsive. And with the right exhaust i think the 4-banger sound very decent. A good friend of mine had the V6 from 2005, and i loved the car. All of these various engines give the Mustang a certain appeal, but each and everyone of these variations are great to me. Im sure there will be a time (hopefully not too soon) were the v8 might not exist anymore, and ever since i have had the opportunity to experience the new Ecoboost, that seems fine with me.

I'm not one of them. Hell, I talk to, and hang out with guys at the cruise night each month that have WRX's, STI's, Camaro's, Challenger's, rat rod's, and whatever. I don't have any issue with the EB guys or V6 guys. Trouble is, there aren't many of either of those in my area that I see. When I do see another S550 it's usually an EB.

One thing that I learned about the EB's "value proposition" when I finally traded my EB for a GT was the depreciation. Sure I saved money in gas, insurance and price by originally going for the EB but when it came time to trade in the EB didn't hold it's value nearly as well as the GT. So all those savings ended up probably being nullified in the end.

Hindsight is 20/20 though and I'm glad to finally be in the car I really wanted all along. I don't even have it broken in yet and I already love it so much more than my EB. It's nice having a warranty again along with a better sounding, reliable motor I don't have to worry about and constantly tinker with to fix or prevent issues.

I've owned plenty of V8's including the Coyote 5.0L, thanks. But since you've seen it a million times already, Ford must be ready to cut both the 4 and 6cyl models completely for the next year due to lack of sales and overflowing trade in stock, amirite? Thats a lot of times its happened.
