You can really tell who has the GT as their first "fast" car on this forum. Its kind of sad that on chevy forums they talk about being better than the mustang but on the mustang forum they talk about being better than the lower trim levels.
Yea, my cousin has an Audi A4 with the 3.0 V6 and my brother has an A3 2.0 Sportback. They never get shit despite their cars being lower end trims and theyre really cool with the local Audi community here.

I really think it's certain GT owners who don't know how to appreciate what the lower trims has done for the car the past 50 years. Remove the 2.3 and the 3.7 and the $$$ of that 5.0 will skyrocket.

Well I kind of think that it's more on the EB's crowd screaming.. We can make our EB just as fast as the GT and save 7k!. Heck, I thought the same thing too and downplayed the GT in the beginning.

At the end of the day, we didn't realize that pushing the lil motor that hard caused complications and it still can't beat a GT, won't ever sound like a GT no matter what we do.

The GT in stock form, has plenty of power for the street with a rumbling V8!

The V6/2.0T Camaro guys, have never really said, we can mod our V6/2.0T to beat the SS! Well, the SS is a low 12 sec car so unless they are really ponying up the cash, they're not touching the V8.

Maybe the EB (Just some) are too cocky and that's why GT owners are poking at them?

I personally don't care if someone has an EB, a V6, a dump truck or a farm tractor with a manure spreader, it's all good to me. Taking pride in what you have speaks volumes. If you love your EB, cool. But talking smack about a GT to justify your EB purchase shows everyone you made a personal mistake by buying it, and now you're trying to cover it up with diversionary propaganda. Think of what you have, don't dwell on what you have not.

I haven't really seen any ecoboost owners saying they bought it specifically because it would be faster than the GT for cheaper. I have seen dozens of posts in just the last few weeks of GT owners bashing on the ecoboost although they leave the V6 guys alone for the most part.

Do they feel threatened or something? This kind of immature attitude is why other car communities rag on the mustang guys.

Anyone with any sense would know that the same basic 2.3L DI turbo motor that has been around since 2005 in one shape or another isn't going to be faster than a 435hp 5.0 V8 without a ton of work, nor is it going to sound like one. At the same time, a 435hp V8 isn't really very fast these days. People forget there is always someone faster out there.

I love my V8's, and I've had a lot of them. At one point I had 3 V8 mustangs at one time (1999 Cobra, 2003 Cobra and 2011 GT). That isn't even mentioning the half-dozen 4'th gen F-bodies I've had. I only thought that I was the fastest thing on the street once though, thats how you end up in your 900rwhp turbo Firebird looking at a license plate that says "1BAD2JZ" as it disappears into the distance like you were in a Geo Metro.

Well said Chargersfan... very objective.

There is a strong defensive reaction from some EB owners anytime someone trades an EB for a GT. Sometimes that defensive reaction elicits a response from GT owners, but most of us here do not ridicule or hate on Ecos or V6's. My first modded car was a Chevrolet Beretta--it was a V6 and I had exhaust and a CAI on it, and I thought it was the most awesome car ever and could beat anything in a race. Everyone starts somewhere. You can have pride in your purchase, but some of the things I see said from certain owners really makes me facepalm. It should be expected that you'll get a strong reaction when you make strong, definitive statements about a person's car. My .02

My car is not me. I am not my car.

The best part of shared enthusiasm for anything - car, boat, house, obscure eastern European national anthems - is a bunch of like minded people getting together and being happy and excited to talk about whatever is cool about that shared enthusiasm.

The worst part of shared enthusiasm is when a bunch of like minded people get together to shit on whatever they consider beneath them - the "wrong" cosmetic mod, the "lesser" trim level, the "bad" trade-in deal.

The reality is that to most people, cars are fancy appliances, and we're weird for loving them as much as we do. In light of that, it's bullshit to be tearing down anyone else who shares our enthusiasm, just because they see a trim level, or a mod, or whatever in a different light.

On the other hand, send me $2 for that Ecoboost video. It's super funny you guys.

GT to ecoboost worked for me. But again I don't care to or drive fast.

Don't get me wrong. I love my EB. But I would trade it in a second for a GT if I wasn't so upside-down. I made the fool mistake of getting one when they literally just hit the lots, and with depreciation, I'm totally screwed for at least another year.

Well, add me to the list.

I've been dealing with a dud of an EB since shortly after I purchased it in May. Ford and I agreed on the final numbers today and I'm picking up a 2017 GT w/PP in Grabber Blue as soon as Tindol Ford gets the check.

Grabber Blue with black wheels is such a sick combo. Grats on the new car!

Let me tell you from first hand experience.. a good deal of the EB guys on these forums are total dicks. I don't even go on the EB forums anymore because of that.

I wanted a GT.. insurance made that impossible.. I decided on a v6 manual, I bought a EB auto on a whim instead Lol.. I have always admitted I made a mistake, bought the wrong car.. and even tho I love the s550 and the mustang overall, I do not like this drivetrain. I honestly would be happier with a V6 Manual. Would of been a lot cheaper too.

Dude I saw some of their post towards you. They made it sound like you're a trader or something just because you wanted a GT. Just because you wanted something faster, better, whatever.

They shouldn't have done that and respect your wants. Your situation is diff and that's your reason for not trading up. I was in the same boat and I finally felt vindicated when I traded up. I heard it all, it's a girls car! I got the b*tch version! It's a watered down Mustang! I always wanted the V8 that's what bothered me and thought the EB was good enough at the time of purchase :/

For those that are happy with the EB, enjoy it! It's a great car, descent power, good gas mileage.. Sometimes you have to be involved with something to see if you truly want it.. And the EB, wasn't for me.

Hope you're enjoying your new GT!!

Maybe I'm sick in the head or something, but since the Cyclone came out, my eyes have never strayed away from wanting a Mustang with one in it. Money did not impact my purchasing a V6. Also, I've had a few Mustangs (1968 302, 2000 GT, 2010 V6) and found them all to be very fun and appealing cars, no matter the engine. Even just getting rid of my 68 with a 302 did not push me to getting a 5.0. Would I have loved the V8, absolutely. Do I love my V6, absolutely.

Sure, the 5.0 is what every engine wishes it was, but the V8 is not a one size fits all for everyone. I personally feel that the current Mustang is almost a tribute to the days when you could custom order a car and have multiple engine options. VERY few vehicles have 3 engine choices these days. There's an option for any lifestyle, and no matter that lifestyle, every single one of us have at least 1 thing in common :D
