On a purely subject point..

I think the "refresh" MY14 bodystyle change for the 5th Gen did hurt the appeal of the 6th Gen. If the original 5th Gen style had continued on through the other 2 MY's (2014 and 2015) then the Gen 6 would have appeared really impressive.

Unfortunately the 6th Gen looks like a refresh of the refresh.

I was literally, seconds before clicking on this thread, thinking of that sequence. Granted it was the actual original scene where Hitler is informed that Gen Steiner wasn't able to get troops together to make a counter-attack...but the same scene.

Have to admit the Camaro SS is a GREAT car, performance wise.

Motor Trend just did a Head2Head:

2016 Camaro SS vs the 2016 BMW M4.

The Camaro (costing almost half of what the M4 costs) tied or beat the BMW in every instrumented test. Subjectively, Motor Trend said the Camaro destroyed the BMW in every catagory....ie engine sound, steering feel, chassis dynamics, etc.

Maybe BMW has lost its mojo?

GM is serious with their Performance Division (ATS-V, CTS-V, Z06, ZR1, 1LE, etc.)

I'd still buy a Mustang GT PP over the Gen6 Camaro SS due to interior and exterior design, and some intangibles.

BMW has fallen, and GM has risen, however the Camaro isn't a status symbol. The M3/M4 says "I've achieved some significant success in my life, I like comfort and performance". When you're a successful supervisor or middle manager in a company or corporation, you get a Audi/BMW/Merc.

The Camaro, no matter how polished and capable it becomes, will always have a brutish, overly "American" and unrefined reputation.

Nobody (well, maybe one or two people) deny that the Camaro is not a great performing vehicle. However, that performance is not translating to sales, apparently. IMHO, GM's gamble of not introducing a truly new Camaro design with the 6thGen but just carrying over the 5thGen design, with some subtle changes, to a different chassis was a huge mistake. A mistake many of us called when the reveal first occurred.

I am the exception to that rule. I have been in a senior leadership position for many years and have ZERO desire to purchase/drive a BMW/Audi/Merc.

Oh I know there are exceptions to the rule.

I was more so speaking in reference to when people say things like "Oh the CAMARO has put BMW on notice, your days are numbered!"

And stuff like that.
