went to put the car in reverse and it sounded like it was wining whenever i moved. is this normal or should i be worried about it the wine was kinda quiet

Interesting.

Mine makes a high pitched whine noise when stationary (but in drive). Its really noticble when in a drive thru or in a garage. But the noise goes away when I start moving.


Try doing some tests next to a wall and see what you hear. Reversing, going forwards, staying still, etc.

Its its not crazy loud its probably fine.

The 10R80 definitely whines a bit in reverese and that's normal. I actually like it, not sure why.......

I like a good Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley region of Oregon.

And yeah, the 10R80 does whine a bit. Totally normal due to the way the gears (in the pump specifically I believe) are cut. There’s a whole huge thread about the 10R80 in here and all of its “quirks”.

If you're really concerned check the fluid level and condition.
Otherwise lots of automatic transmissions make some noise.

The vast majority of cars whine in reverse because the reverse gear is straight cut. Not sure I've ever had a car that doesn't.
