I agree, Obama and Clinton handled Benghazi horribly and can not make up for their terrible decisions that night. Trump handled sending in a QRF and attempting to fortify the Baghdad embassy correctly, he listened to his cabinet and the joint chiefs and did what was right. However, as much as Soleimani deserved to die for all the horrible things he's cause for decades this was a thoughtless action that will have grave consequences and could lead us to war which NO ONE wants. Now, I am not saying Iran did not warrant military might, just not to the extent of killing basically their Vice President, again his actions did warrant death but this puts us in a terrible situation with an uncertain future.

We are basically pouring gasoline on a smoldering fire with ZERO structure in place in the Middle East.

This gives zero incentive for any enemy of the US to ever cooperate with us again when we have one President come in and start discourse/negotiate a nuclear arms treaty when another President comes in, scraps it, and then kills their second in command.
Trump unilaterally broke said treaty because he didn't like the was it was signed by Obama, what should have been a new era of cooperation between our nations is now looking more and more like another war one of which we haven't seen since WW2.

I really hope Iran thinks this through and backs down from an equally damaging attack, however, I imagine they will at least ramp up cyber attacks, proxy wars, and their influence in the Middle East.

Least we forget that in 2016 conservatives berated Hillary claiming she is a war monger and that shed drag us into a war with Iran or Russia. On the same hand they said Trump would be a better pick as he would 'put America first' and keep us out of a pointless war. There is absolutely no consistency. This isn't even getting into the fact that Trump most likely took this incredible action on the heels of him most likely losing reelection or having to deal with a Senate trial, see: Clinton striking Iraq to to delay impeachment. Not to mention Don Jr tweeting this and Defense contractor stocks sky rocketing

You don't know the first thing about serving your country nor do you understand the events leading up to Mogadishu and operation gothic serpent you piece of shit. Don't try to justify your pathetic opinions with the deaths of soldiers.

Edit: Can a @Moderator please remove this tasteless meme, thanks.

Ahh another Republican underselling the financial impact of war. Do you still have the banner of Bush with "mission accomplished" hanging up in your dining room?

Not saying he wasn't a piece of shit. But assassinating foreign government officials at a time like this is dumb as hell.

IMO, the responses by meme and retaliatory fighting amongst each other is just pure ignorance.

In no way does my response represent doom-or-gloom, swing to or support ANY Political or Radical Party, nor am I joining any forum member in their ideology.

Take the below from a common sense and logical level, putting ALL of the BS rhetoric and in-forum fighting aside.

Regardless of WHO is in Office, the decision to carry out such a Military Strike against another Foreign Nation’s General may be an egregious mistake.

1) Whether it was The President, a Martian or Big Bird, in the end, The President didn’t have Congressional authority to make such a decision and take such action without prior notification, discussion or overall majority vote for/or against.

2) Flip the tables folks. The action taken by the US would be similar to another Country taking out one of our highest Generals during non-war times for unfounded reasons. I don’t care what Country it was, what that General’s background was, or what anyone thought of him or the politics within that Country - what The US President has done is possibly going to incite additional violence and has the potential for War, period.

3) The use of Twitter, Social Media, etc. by the President is childish, period. A President of this Country or ANY other should not be using Social Media to trash their own in-house Govt. employees, trash individual States and their Govt. employees, tout how well any military operation went, to threaten or influence US Businesses or Corps., to taunt other Foreign Nations, to chide Foreign Presidents, their Govt., their Military or their Dignitaries, to express how HE/SHE feels about this that or the other, spout off about how HE/SHE is going to impose this that or other sanctions/tariffs/penalties on X-Country, or act as a mindless bigot. IMO, This President does not in any way represent me or this United States. Not when the interests being protected and projected are his own ideology which only benefits his and his Business Associates bottom line and has major influence over profits and losses.

4) For those that think The President’s decision to take out a Major General and Military associates of another Foreign Nation is “great”, it’s NOT. This act of aggression is not similar to just taking out Bin Laden, Baghdadi or any other “terrorist”. The action to literally assassinate another Country’s Military General in non-war times is going to cause repercussions world wide. You all can chant the “MAGA” BS or thump your chests - but what The President just did is akin to what Bin Laden did to us on 09/11. We were NOT at War with Iraq, Iran or any other associated Country for this operation to take place (or for BL to attack us on 09/11). Yes we have a Military presence there in Iraq and Iran (and in many other countries), but there was no threat or declaration of War by ANY Country, nor was the small riot at the Embassy any reason to create additional conflict and potential for War. Since 1924, there have been plenty of Embassy riots during the terms of prior US Presidencies; up until today, name one where the US President took out that Country’s Military General or close associates.

5) We (the US) not only have Military personnel in many of those countries, but we also have US Contractors who support programs and who provide security to those in the region, Aid Workers, Doctors, Diplomats, Embassy Workers, other US Citizens performing various duties, etc. the list goes on. This rash decision by The President to attack a Foreign Country’s Military has just put all of those individuals at severe risk.

6) Don’t be naive to think that the US is still the only Country that has the ability to strike or “muscle” through another Nation or win a War in these times - we’re not. Also don’t think just because we are HERE, that this Country and it’s interests can’t be physically attacked again here on this soil. Many Countries and their Military (or it’s radicals) have been becoming more and more technologically advanced. With the WWW at the fingertips of anyone who has access to a mobile device or computer - don’t think for one instance that Country-XYZ can’t make advances in ground/air weaponry, advanced IEDs or logistics during this day and age. For some reason everyone here thinks that Country-XYZ is still in the dark ages and only has horses, pitchforks, slingshots and that the miles of water in between will continue to keep the US safe. Folks are very, very wrong for thinking in that manner. Plus not to mention, the US Military can only be stretched so much here and abroad; if a US President is burning bridges and pissing off key Allies, there isn’t going to be that additional support to protect everyone EVERYWHERE.

This President has accomplished a few things during his Presidency, but this strike on another Country’s Military General could be a mistake that will result in dire consequences for many innocent people.

Again, this Military strike wasn’t just another status quo of picking off mindless terrorists wielding IEDs, torches, rocks and suicide vests; the decision and it’s results has stirred the pot with a Foreign Country’s Military and it’s a Country large enough that it does have backers who unfortunately support their ideologies.

I’ll leave it at this:
There’s a right way and a wrong way to do things...

Go ahead and meme blast me, because I don’t give twoshits about THAT foolishness. I thought we were adults here who could have meaningful discussions - regardless of who you do or don’t support.

If the US had a general that was responsible for terrorist attacks in other nations, we would deserve to have that general killed.

Killing a terrorist leader is not the same as declaring war.

I agree this is a serious situation and I understand that if the President asked for support from another branch of the government - all he would get is divisive rhetoric following party lines. This isn't a time for playing politics.

Depending who you ask we certainly do have Generals and Presidents who have done such. EDIT: CIA and the Iranian coup

Have you never heard of Franz Ferdinand? EDIT: Saying he was just a terrorist far underestimates the power this man had in Iran, he was basically a head of state. Understand, I am not debating that the man did deserve to die.

There is no good time not to 'play politics' when it comes to the thought of throwing your nation into conflict. Is this some kind of competition?

Terrorism can be perspective based. To many in the middle East, the United States with their drone attacks can be thought of as terrorism for example. I doubt you will get much sympathy for the casualties of civilians when describing those civilians killed by drone attacks as "unfortunate events based on bad Intel".

He was a bad guy, but assassination can unite people in Iran against us. While he has been responsible for attacks against the US, he also fought ISIS which could garner support from those in Iran.

Gotta keep the American war machine economy going somehow I guess.

bj - no offense intended; you’re a good guy and I enjoy your other contributions to the site. I do think the meme with the deceased should be removed, it’s ignorant to their respective families to repost such imagery.

While Biden and Warren may have agreed Soleimani was an enemy and bad person, let’s look at their ENTIRE statements. Most folks across the planet are taking portions of these statements out of context to only support and gear it to one side or another:

Joe Biden
"No American will mourn Qassem Soleimani's passing. He deserved to be brought to justice for his crimes against American troops and thousands of innocents throughout the region. He supported terror and sowed chaos. None of that negates the fact that this is a hugely escalatory move in an already dangerous region. The Administration's statement says that its goal is to deter future attacks by Iran, but this action almost certainly will have the opposite effect. President Trump just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox, and he owes the American people an explanation of the strategy and plan to keep safe our troops and embassy personnel, our people and our interests, both here at home and abroad, and our partners throughout the region and beyond. I'm not privy to the intelligence and much remains unknown, but Iran will surely respond. We could be on the brink of a major conflict across the Middle East. I hope the Administration has thought through the second- and third-order consequences of the path they have chosen. But I fear this Administration has not demonstrated at any turn the discipline or long-term vision necessary — and the stakes could not be higher." — Statement, January 2
Elizabeth Warren
"Soleimani was a murderer, responsible for the deaths of thousands, including hundreds of Americans. But this reckless move escalates the situation with Iran and increases the likelihood of more deaths and new Middle East conflict. Our priority must be to avoid another costly war." — Tweeted statement, January 2

And here’s many other unedited responses still coming in about the event:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-...espond-to-soleimani-assassination-2020-01-03/

Again, I’m not for any Political/Radical side, any platform or support any M6G member’s thoughts about the matter - but anyone (anywhere) saying Biden and Warren were 100% agreeing that Soleimani‘s death and resulting Military action was a good decision is certainly not true based on their ENTIRE statements.

Of course you don't see that you're also one who insults and is definitely full of hate ... but I guess I wouldn't expect anyone with one-way glasses on to think any differently. For you, everything is either "left" or "right" ... you have zero capability of thinking without a stupid MAGA hat on while clutching your Trumpy Bear.

Yeah, let's quote some Eisenhower, one of the last few good Republicans, unlike Trump and Nixon and to some part Reagon for his horrible idea of economics.

"Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from the cornfield." This is a really good one for right-wing nut @bjstang who has never served a day in his life nor has any sense of leadership or political knowhow.

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."

"I despise people who go to the gutter on either the right or the left and hurl rocks at those in the center." - This is a really good one for @bjstang

"I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity." - And in the world of drone strikes and hypersonic missiles, we are one mistake away from sending our nation's sons and daughters to a war or conflict caused by terrible democracy through the poor leadership of people who have never experienced war.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history." - Eisenhower who have literally spit in the face of many Republicans today.

All @bjstang does is ramble on and on about the 'radical left' hypersensitive to everything he hears from Fox News he is the definition of a radical, a man who can not have a civil discussion without lambasting everything and everyone, nor moderate or ethical view for the life of him. The whataboutism he spews is one I would expect from someone living under or worshiping a dictator.
