Hey all.

I'm sure he is going to resign before the election and so will Pence. They are all pretty much fucked. It's not an if but when at this point and I'm a registered republican. I just know stupid when I see it.

I say let the Europeans police the world for a while, they caused most of this trouble anyway. Let their children be killed and maimed.
Eh?

I wouldn't go shouting that sort of thing here - An awful lot of dead Europeans in many conflicts throughout the world. I do believe you completely missed the point of my post !

I got your point just fine, my point is; I don't want to see dead Americans coming back in coffins because we are expected to police the world. I also am sick of paying for all of that. As far as resources go, the US is a net exporter of food and soon to be a large exporter of energy, thanks largely to the pro business attitude of the Trump admin. We could be easily self sufficient or at least self sufficient within our hemisphere. We don't really need anything from the middle east. As far as the dead Europeans goes; Colonialism is expensive in both money and lives. That's another reason why we should stay out of foreign conflicts as much as possible.

This is what I mean by Europeans caused most of the problems, let them fix it. Europeans meddled in the middle east, the carribean (think Haiti), Africa. Lots of the problems today started with European colonialism, its your job to sort this crap out.

Not gonna happen, he has too large of an ego. He is going for win #2 then he may say screw it. Why would Pence resign?

Self sufficient in our hemisphere isn't saying much - there is bugger all land mass in the southern hemisphere and only 10% of the population of the entire world. I wouldn't bank on other countries wanting to buy your dirty energy either. We are looking to reduce our CO2 output so unlikely to buy 'good ol' US coal. Just because Donald doesn't believe it doesn't make it untrue !

If you think the Ottoman Empire has anything to do with modern day politics and responsibilities you are deluded my friend. You can't just go back a few hundred years and blame somebody else for modern day problems.

The trouble with foreign conflicts is they have a habit of involving overseas interests. You can't close your eyes to what is going on and hope for the best, it will still happen ! The US has massive interests in the Middle East for one simple reason - OIL. Even if you are self sufficient in oil, the price of oil is controlled by OPEC and it is a finite resource that contributes to global warming. Relying on and promoting of fossil fuels is a short term solution that will not last many more years.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) neither of us will be around to see how it all pans out.

I said in our hemisphere, not Europe. Plentiful land, resources, oil, food, mustangs over here. I started to take you seriously until you brought up global warming. Good day, mate!

There is a north and south hemisphere in the world - we are in the north. You could describe your latitude perhaps.

Ahh, a Global warming denier! You CANNOT deny the globe is warming, but you can argue over the causes.

Dude, they quit calling it global warming, it's global climate change. Hard to get people to take global warming seriously when it -16 F outside.

The division of Earth by the Equator and prime meridian

In geography and cartography, the hemispheres of Earth refer to any division of the globe into two hemispheres (from Ancient Greek ἡμισφαίριον hēmisphairion, meaning "half of a sphere").

The most common such divisions are by latitudinal or longitudinal markers[1]:

You are confusing weather and climate. There will always be cold places even on a warmed planet.

The globe is warming hence global warming. Global climate change covers all eventualities not just warming.

I think I may have initiated serious thread drift from impeachment !

Global Warming By CO2 Or Cooling By A Grand Solar Minimum - If this occurs, there will be global cooling and if we are stuck on "global warming" we all sound more foolish.

So, should we all increase our carbon footprint a little to combat the coming solar minimum or should we just accept the fact that the climate changes and burning fossil fuels, although they do increase pollution, probably isn't changing the overall temperature of the earth. If we go into a solar minimum and NASA predictions are true, you guys will be begging for a little of that "dirty coal" to heat your homes. " NASA is effectively forecasting a return to the Dalton Minimum (1790-1830) but gives no mention of the brutal cold, crop loss, famine, war and powerful Volcanic eruptions associated with it. Like the deeper Maunder and Spörer Minimums preceding it, the Dalton brought on a period of lower-than-average global temperatures. The Oberlach Station in Germany, for example, experienced a 2C decline over 20 years, which devastated the country’s food production."

As humans we should be good stewards of our planet but to think we can change the climate of this planet and out energy the sun is foolish. Those endless wars and the US policing every little disaster the world over causes way more pollution than a normal person could ever think of even if I used a new plastic straw every day and ordered fast food in Styrofoam containers and filled up my own landfill. To bring things back on topic it is hypocritical of the Dems to cry about Trump removing combat troops from Syria even though congress has never declared war on Syria and the amount of pollution being caused by US forces operating in Syria is astronomic.

I like that Dems are environmentally conscious. People driving to the polls are bad for the Earth, so I make a deal with a Dem friend for neither of us to do that. In fact, I make the deal with every Dem I can. And to keep my end, I go with a mail-in ballot.
