Dude I've been an R for 20 years...that has nothing to do with facts to me, facts are facts, and how you and our so called leaders talk to people is a big issue whether you think it is or not. Not everyone is a dipshit just because you don't like what they say, or stand for. And to follow a leader who does talk like that daily, and worse, well its just disappointing...I expect better of people, especially our so call "leaders".

Democrats have always been ready to use race-baiting as part of their election strategies. Only the colors have shifted, not the underlying principle that government may treat Americans differently on the basis of race.

The consistent theme of the Democrat party is using government power to discriminate among Americans based on race and the reliance of the Democrats on blatant racial appeals as a result of this policy. The segregationists of a half century ago in the South, George Wallace, Orville Faubus, Lester Maddox, Bull Connor, J. William Fulbright, et al as a group were fairly typical Democrats, and in their use of racial appeals for political purposes they were part of a long and dishonorable Democrat tradition that continues to this day.

Agree completely that Southern Democrats were by and large segregationists. However, by the mid-20th century both parties were fractured. As for segregation and civil rights overall, the split was more along geographic lines than party lines. Southerners, Democrat or Republican (as few of the latter as there were) did not support desegregation. Northerners from both parties did; otherwise nothing would have changed. The key question becomes, what made the solidly democratic south become republican--did Southern voters change their ideology?

Arguing that the Southern Strategy = fake news is like arguing that the earth is flat.

The same thing happened to Bill Clinton from day one. Something called the Whitewater investigation. And he didn’t cry about it nearly as bad as The Don! “I’m being treated very, very unfairly!” Cry me a River Donny. You know he means it when he uses two “very’s” in a sentence.
