You forget the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy"
Oh yes. Now it is called “The Deep State”

The only vast right wing conspiracy going on right now is how Lindsey Graham has managed to keep his gayness a secret!!

Agree completely that Southern Democrats were by and large segregationists. However, by the mid-20th century both parties were fractured. As for segregation and civil rights overall, the split was more along geographic lines than party lines. Southerners, Democrat or Republican (as few of the latter as there were) did not support desegregation. Northerners from both parties did; otherwise nothing would have changed. The key question becomes, what made the solidly democratic south become republican--did Southern voters change their ideology?

Arguing that the Southern Strategy = fake news is like arguing that the earth is flat.
It was really the Air Conditioning strategy.

I must be a flat earther, it isn't like the MSM (or search engines) makes it easy to dig the truth out. they have made it clear how they roll.

Excerpt RE: Southern Strategy

I always found it interesting that a lot of the moderates that would work with both parties were Southern D's. Rather ironic that the D party litmus tests pretty much exterminated them.

Here's the problem with the Republican party as I see it. Republicans voted for Trump in 2016 to stick it to democrats because they felt alienated by all of the fervor surrounding Obama. Now they are sticking with Trump because they are too prideful to admit that he's not a good president or they think it's forgivable as long as he appoints conservative judges and signs conservative laws. The Republican Party is going to stand by their president through literally anything because it's going to keep them in power. Democrats do the same thing. But, until now, there has not been a president who has so blatantly flouted laws in an effort to consolidate more power for himself. The fact that one man has demonstrated that he is willing to break any law just to give himself more power should be concerning to everyone. He has branded himself as being "America" to make his voters think that not supporting him means not supporting America. But that's not what our country is all about. We fought the Revolutionary War to get away from one man holding all the power and thinking he is above the law. Being against an authoritarian does not make someone unAmerican, but the opposite. President Trump should be impeached and removed from office, not because he is a Republican or Conservative, but because he has broken the law. Enlisting foreign governments to take down political opponents for you, regardless on if their assistance is predicated on "quid pro quo" of any kind is not OK for anyone to do.
Maybe they are sticking by him 1. Because he is in the right 2. He is popular with the base and it would be political suicide for a Repub to bail on him 3. He was elected because of a populist uprising, most politicians know this is a powerful force 4. They want to ride his coat tails into power and then bail on him

Oh, and no proof of a quid pro quo, in fact quite a bit of proof to the contrary.

Trump hasn't broken any laws. The Ds just continue to lie about this and you are eating up all those lies. If Trump had broken the law you would know.

You don't get it at all in my opinion. What happened is this. The conservative base of the Republican party started to realize that most Republicans are RINOs (Republican in Name Only) and are actually big government people.

Those conservatives formed the TEA party. The TEA party was going to take over, because the US conservative voting base didn't like the Republicans. Then the "good old boys" including Obama's IRS attacked the TEA party to prevent the TEA party from coming to power. It's difficult to dislodge an entrenched, corrupt group of people - and both the Rs and Ds want to keep the status quo so they can keep making money and keep their power.

SO the conservative base in the US was angry about the TEA party and they wanted anyone EXCEPT a Republican. They wanted an outsider - not a politician.

That is why Trump is in office. Because he isn't part of the corrupt system. Conservatives rolled the dice and hoped that he would be good.

And Trump has done a lot of great things to help the American people.

SO - those corrupt people in the R and D party - all of them still want Donald out of office because he doesn't take bribes and follow the same path they are on. Trump is trying to help the people, which is thwarting the power grab the federal government has been working on for the last 50+ years. The Rs have to pretend that they are Rs and they like what Trump does, because their voting base loves Trump.

Then there's the people like you who don't understand what's going on.
Bingo, give Hack a cigar!

I’m sure our NATO allies are reassessing their relationship with the U.S. As is Japan, South Korea and especially Taiwan.

What would Trump do right now if Russia invaded the Ukraine? Or Poland?

What would he do if China decided to repatriate Taiwan?

What would he do if North Korea launched an attack on the south?

I know what he would do. Based on his past Presidential behavior, he would fire off a few Tweets about it. Talk big about how it would be a big mistake. And then do nothing.

What country would want to be an ally to one that will bug out when the crap hits the fan?

This country needs a real leader. A person with intelligence, temperament, but unwavering will.

Donald Trump is not that person.
Who died and made our children the policemen of the world, I say let the Kurds, Ukrainians, Poles, Taiwanese, south koreans take care of themselves. I say one dead American for one inch of foreign ground is too much.

I believe the reason Trump gave Turkey the green light to invade northern Syria is because Putin told him to. I believe Putin has dirt on our President. I believe our President has been comprised!
Do you have "any" proof of this?

Have you ever heard Trump say anything bad about Putin? Putin and his 2016 US election misinformation campaign helped get the Don elected.

Yes. And the reason he keeps it a secret is because Republicans in general, don’t like gay people. Or black people. Or Mexicans. Or Muslims. Or environmentalist. Or any non-white, non- English speaking people!

I suppose that means you were against the US invading Iraq?

If you took the hair that comes down Trump’s left side sideburn area, and you combed it straight down. It would be a foot and a half long!

How much hairspray does he use?

Does anyone remember the comic strip Dennis the Menace? That’s who Trump looks like.

He has the skin tone the color of a Cheeto but his eyelids are pink!!

And based on expert photo analysis, the President is wearing 44 waist trousers.

I don’t believe there is anything... anything Trump could do or say, to change any of you supporters minds!

Like he said, he could shoot someone dead in downtown Manhattan and never lose a vote.
So, it's not his politics or personality that bothers you it is his looks? Nancy Pelosi and RBG must be very high on your list of people to hate.
