It's a nice sentiment, but the reality is the US has 'interests' in a lot of overseas countries whether that be resources based, political, or strategic. No country in the world is self sufficient in everything, so all have overseas activities.

That is before you even consider humanitarian and environmental factors which are becoming more and more significant

The limiting factor for the human race (and any population) is food. When places can no longer grow food for environmental or political reasons the populations will be displaced and threaten stability. You ignore the rest of the world at your peril !
