If you have a wastegated centri you can use a boost controller with boost-by-gear feature. I believe the eBoost2 does it. I'm thinking about it in the future.

It is per se. Not really though. You don’t get to choose what boost you want to be at per gear, just how much percentage of power you want to reduce each gear by. Depending on what pulley you’re running and your engine combination, my -20% reduction will be different than yours and so on. Seems to be pretty simple to do in theory but like others have said, the tables that operate this particular feature are hidden. I’m sure it’s for a purpose...dont want everyone knowing how you did it, otherwise you loose a great sales point. I’m sure a tuner that knows their way around could build 2 or 3 different tunes entirely, with reductions per gear that could be loaded as you pleased. But being able to switch it instantly and with the variations you can choose in flight control, will be proprietary to Whipple indefinitely.

Same goes for all the Flare tool changes, nothing shows any changes ANYWHERE in the tune in the parts we can see.

Knock Limiting, CHT Limiting, Rev Limit...none make any changes to the actual tune in the PCM.

This is what leads me to believe either there are entirely different tables they have added to the PCM that cannot be seen or they are making changes to the BCM. But I don't have a great grasp of just what can actually be programmed via the BCM.

do a full read of the tune if using hp then drop the flight controls in half and do another full read and send them both to me. i'll tear out the binary and see if anything changed behind the sceens. its is ANYWHERE in the pcm i'll find it

Whats your email?

I have three saved,

All switches full on (stock settings from Whipple) but no gear limiting
All limits OFF, still no gear limiting
1st gear set with a -20% adjustment

Question along the same lines as this thread... if I were to swap to a Tremec Magnum XL with completely different gear ratios, would this screw up Whipple's flight control? Any other issues with the Whipple tune with this swap?

You would need an additional tuning device like HP or SCT, Flare can't adjust trans gearing

We don't have an "ex" engineer working on cals, just to clear that up. Still lead calibrator on many projects.

I would like to know how one thinks they can make power per gear work on a manual trans?

With the ability to write the software, add/subtract tables and use it the way we need it, we were able to do that. We also don't do it the way people think. Also, one must have the torque tables semi accurate to truly attempt it, which is not easy to do. We have full control over torque, the way the PCM architecture was designed so we can control it more than most.

So in general, aftermarket can't do it as we do it, but one can do it on an auto giving the time/resources but you would have to load a new cal each time. Ours can change on the fly, while the motor is running if you have the program open.

You guys have to remember, HP/Diablo/SCT shows about 1-10% of the actual calibratable tables and switches. They do a damn good job giving the necessary ones to do most things, but there is a ton not shown that can still help. Since we re-compile the software, we have modes and switches on that you can't do after the software has been compiled. Meaning, even if you copied everything you see, your still not going to have it work the same.

Out of all of the supercharger manufacturers out there Whipple has the cal game locked down. By far the best cal out of all of them with CARB certification for most of their kits. A lot of time, money, testing and skill goes into it.
