Is the extra cost of the Whipple stage 2 worth it? Could someone explain the benefits of stage 2 vs 1?

Always stage 2, it’s wayyyy more expensive to upgrade to stage 2 later and it’s worth the initial cost for the power bump.

Stage 2 is the pulley, throttle body, and tune I think. Most think it’s worth it.

Is the 5th gen 3.0 the one to go with?

You should also upgrade the heat exchanger to offset the heat from more boost and HP.

Is a BAP sufficient?

So injectors, tune, fuel pump (or BAP if confirmed), larger heat exchanger. Anything else or is that pretty much all that is needed?

Aren't their gears that need replaced? I guess I am referring to other things that would make sense to upgrade that aren't in the kit.

Sky is the limit, oil pump gears, crank sprocket, built motor, built transmission, return fuel system with e85, custom tuning.

you can go as far as you want.

the stage 2 comes with everything need to for you to make 650+ Wheel Hp with good fuel.

If piece of mind, you can do the crank and oil pump gears when you install the SC to minimize the motor tear down process.
Supporting mode all depends on what your wanting out of the car.
Wider wheels and sticker tires are a must it you'll be doing any spirited driving.

The throttle body is the most expensive part. As tx-ripper said, it’s much cheaper to get the stage 2 from the start. I made that mistake in 2015, but didn’t make it again in 2018.

Please post any evidence you have of gen3 opg failures with bolt-on supercharger kits.

I’d like some references on that as well if there out there.

Doesn’t seem common but heres one. There’s been several on S550 Facebook groups, but I hate digging through them. Seems like mostly Whipple cars for whatever reason.
