I tried the Steeda, but eventually went back to OEM. It just felt right.

After 5 years of stock+a steeda bracket for the stock shifter I had a MGW put in this year and it has made me very very happy. I don't have lockout issues at high rpm anymore.

MGW seems to be the way to go.. i love mine though its a little notchy. They do offer heavier shift knobs that would cure most of it. I like a notchier feel anyway. Getting into 6th is annoying i will say and you have to be careful not to get into 4th by accident.

The downward push into reverse feels much better than the fiddly plastic POS that the stock knob uses.
One of the things I don’t like about the Hurst is you have to push quite firmly when going in to 5th or 6th to keep from going in to 3rd/ 4th. It sounds like the MGW has the same issue. Thanks for responding

I can only comment from stock vs MGW. I have their second gen shifter. It feels very well made, shifts are very satisfying.

Shifter height was a big deal for me. The MGW Race Standard is pretty close to the same height as stock and 100% cured the occasional 2-3 lockout for me.

X spec plus flat stick gets you pretty close to stock height too, and the flat stick is friggin sweet

Yeah 5th is ok for me it’s just 6th. It’s just kind of awkward. But 3rd and 5th are great, just go straight up and it snicks in every time

I will say it does take a change in angle and force to get into 5th and 6th. I honestly like it though, it prioritizes the fun gears. It's not difficult to go into 5th, it just isn't easy.

I agree with others that fifth and sixth demand attention with the MGW. I have to pay attention when shifting into first as well. Has anyone had a weighted ball mitigate the effort required?

Full tilt boogie bracket, and a short throw lever if you want one but it's not needed. $100. That's it. I got better things to spend mgw 600 bucks on.

I absolutely love my MGW Race Spec shifter. It seems to get even better as I put more miles on it.

i love my mgw xspec reg throw shifter.
6th can be tricky. i put it in 6th about once a year to see if it still works.

Had a MGW on my 2015 and loved it. Well worth every penny. I liked the more mechanical feel, like many have compared to a bolt action rifle. I ended up putting a weighted shift knob on it, which does smooth it out some. NEVER had any high RPM lockouts after I installed the MGW.

I personally liked the slight additional effort to move the shifter off the center gate where 3rd and 4th are located, and it's all about getting your hand/palm angle right. For me, that 2-3 gear shift became as easy as simply pushing the shifter straight forward from 2nd, letting the springs kick it over in the next gate, and straight up into 3rd.

I had a great experience working with George and his team on my order and install. Quick to respond and answered all of my questions! I never hesitate to recommend them, although I have no experience with the Steeda or Barton shifters.
