I currently have a BMW 328i M Sport, and my lease is up later this year. I drive a lot of miles, so that's why I use two cars (also have a 2007 Mustang).

I know they are not really all comparable (in price range & application) but here's my list of what I may get next:

2016 Mustang GT Premium
2016 Mustang Shelby GT350
Used Mercedes SL55/SL63 AMG 510hp/531tq
2016/17 Mercedes C450 AMG Sport Coupe 362hp/384tq (not revealed yet)
2016/17 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe 503hp (not revealed yet)
2016/17 BMW 440i (unlikely, I'm tired of BMWs)

For me the ATS-V coupe or BMW M4. Either would take on DD duties and would require the sale of my Pontiac G8 GT to bring them into a price range I'm comfortable with. On the other hand the GT 350 would not be my DD if it's priced in the low-mid 50k range.

C7 Z51 Corvette, Cayman GT4 (yeah, I know, one of these things is not like the other... and that one is a long shot). Although I might get both the GT350 *and* one of those first two if things at work go well over the next year or so. And in that case, I have no idea which one would become my DD and which one would be the "weekend fun" car, heh.

On my radar:

M4
M2
M235i
CLA45 AMG
Golf R and R400
STI, but only if a hatchback becomes available
Audi RS3
Audi TT RS
Focus RS

Not buying until Fall 2015, so who knows what will be available.

The coolest thing about this thread is the amazing array of cars people are considering along side the GT350. I've seen m3, 911, vette, GTR, AMG ... was anybody even thinking about this level when the Boss came out? Don't think so. It just shows how far the mustang has come in one generation. Awesome.

But for my life at my salary ... Maybe i could stretch to $60k, so m3, 911, cayman, z06 are out. All my cars go to the track, so that has to be considered.

  1. Focus RS (practical and track-able)
  2. s97 5.0 (for $35k I'd have a pretty awesome track car. not a GT350 though!)
  3. Mustang GT with PP. (I drove a friend's and man was it nice. It would still need suspension for the track work)
  4. z51 vette. (I know, too much $$. Wouldn't be the first time i went over budget!)

Anyway, I'm just sharing my dreams.
You can probably get a 2015 M3 for under 60k if you can do a European delivery.

Also, Kerbeck was selling new 2015 C7s with Z51 for well under 60k.

... Is the Cayman S really any significantly higher than the C7?

As for parking, a rear-view camera makes that a breeze in most modern cars.

Cayman is actually very comfortable (unless you are tall) and great visibility. Seems less claustrophobic than C7 to me. GT4 would be nice if you could get one at base msrp.

Ah I didn't realize he was talking about just seat comfort. I haven't noticed too much difference in fit between those two. I'm not super tall, but I'm not short (just a hair under 6 ft).

For the price of a GT4, you'll probably be able to get a loaded Z06. I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic car, but my god are Porsches stupidly overpriced... There's a reason they have by far the largest margins of any reasonable volume manufacturer in the world.

Yeah I'm not generally bad with small spaces but it was too much. Also, the long slope of the car (its the same length as my mazda) and I was just having trouble with it.

Then again, it was one ride so that was probably a factor too.

If I didn't care what my wife thinks...

I'd get a Ford GT....AT MSRP.

Or a GT350 for every day of the week in a different colors.
