I know that pricing hasn't been released yet but, what other cars are you shopping that are in the price range that you think the GT350 will be in. The only other one that I'm looking at is the BMW M2 which I believe will be similarly priced.

Currently only looking into the GT, GT350, or C7 (Base). The only way the C7 would get the nod is if the 350 ends up being 50k+ for the base model.

Right now the GT350 is the only car on my radar. That said, I have given some thought to getting something with 4 doors and room for my son in the back. To that end a Charger Hellcat and CTS-v or Vsport are both atttractive options.

Price and performance will be important factors in the decision. If it's a 75k car, then one is foolish for not looking at the new z06. But, until and unless the gt350 disqualifies itself, it's the winner of the next really cool car for Eric.

Here's my list:
1. GT350 (will depend on cost and availability)
2. GT/PP with mods
3. C7 Z51
4. Cayman GTS

GT350 is in the lead by far, so the only show stopper is where the price ends up and whether they are available. I hope they won't be a limited run.

I began posting about the GT350 on the Vette forum where I usually hang, and the response was so negative toward the mustang and toward me, a 10 year forum member, that I am almost turned off on the car. The Z06 looked cheesy with the tacked on plastic spats over the front wheels and the awkward looking splitter. I was set on that car until seeing it in person last weekend. The Z28 next to it really caught my eye with those massive 305 front tires and huge CC rotors big calipers. I was so impressed with the Mustang, I went and drove a GT with PP just to check it out.

Now if Ford can keep the weight of the GT350 to 3700 lbs and get the redline up to 8000, and I'm sold.

I really like the C7 and C7Z, but the corvette forums are an interesting place. Lots of insecurity for no good reason. The Vette has always been a great car (not perfect, but still great).

I think the GT350 will be less expensive than a well optioned C7 Z51, although it will likely be subject to dealer markup while the Vette will not. I do think it will be similar in performance as well (for now I'm considering the Z/28 and C7 to be similar in performance, even though the Z/28 is typically a bit faster).

One advantage the GT350 has over the C7 Z51 is the abundance of "track ready" upgrades (brakes and cooling mostly). The FPC engine will be nice as well (and that is a huge understatement). I really noticed the inertia of the LT1 when I was driving the C7 @ the Ron Fellows School. It was the only thing about the car that I wasn't totally thrilled with.

Mine plan Jim! And I'll have it in about 6 days, not next year sometime.

A little birdie told me street version is around 8200RPM...not verified. Ford engines sound very purty at 8200 :)
