I'm useing what ford says, to use...... Some think what the Ford engineers, have put on the Oil Cap, seem to think that the Ford engineers just put the 5-20 on that cap for the fun of it.......... Oh my I have seen a herd a lot on this OIL thing..... But I'm sticking with what ford says....... My two cents worth... John :cheers:
Make sure you don't mod your car either.

Looks like you have done a good job on doing some mods to your car, and then you give advice on this....... OK thanks for the advice...... John
I believe he was telling you specifically not to mod your car since you said you are going to stick to Ford's recommendation of 5w20.

He was not making a blanket statement saying not to mod your car.

Bingo. He said he is going by what Ford says as they know best, they put 5w20 on the cap. In fact they put it on the cap to meet CAFE standards. Ford also states not to mod your car, since they know best, one should follow their advice fully.

GT base, a loud one.
Amsoil 5w20 with their filter here. My car didn't drink any oil during the first 1k either.

Exactly, hopefully nobody believes Ford actually cares about you as a person. You are just another number on their statistics sheet. Ford has an agenda, just like every other manufacturer.

Okay so now you're back to the 5w thing. so I have bolt ons, probably won't go more than that for a year or so while I save up. I might autocross a few times, but this is definitely my primary daily driver. it serves that purpose only. so maybe 5w30 like you had stated above.

Now I need to find out which darn brand. I wish they'd make it easier.:headbonk:
Just go to Walmart and buy whatever synthetic is on sale.. Mobil 1, Motorcraft, Pennzoil etc.. Its all personal preference, the most important point is that you change it when its time.

I use Castrol 5w-20 Conventional which they claim meets Ford spec WSS-M2C945-A. {I used the same oil in my 05 GT and never had issues. Summer driven except maybe two times a winter, just to spin the engine while in storage and only if temps were in -30's so salt on streets wouldn't bite.} Can't drive the 17 GT PP in winter temps due to summer tires but will if I can find used snow tires and rims.

After draining the factory MC 5W-20 at 2700 miles, I have used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-20 with FL500s oil filter with good results. I just did my third oil changed this weekend and sent out a sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis. I will post results once I get them.

I started using Driven racing DI30 5w-30 oil. Been about 1k miles. Sounds good. I notice less negative correction.

I run penziol platinum 5w-20 with an extra guard filter. I am monitoring my oil life with black stone labs and do not plan to exceed 15k miles between oil changes even if the labs come back good. Just in case anyone wonders I daily drive my mustang 130+/- miles a day.
