Thanks for all the comments and help. I may end up getting a polisher, probably Bauer, not necessarily for this, but for future ambitions of a minor paint correction. Can someone recommend the type of machine I should look for, DA, orbital? Specific Bauer model would be great. Thanks again!
I'd recommend spending a little bit extra, the vibration from cheaper machines will make you hate using it.

Just so you know, DA (Dual Action) is the same as Orbital or Random Orbital. This is the best type for a beginner.

I would ignore rotary and forced rotation/gear driven as the learning curve is extremely steep and way more aggressive if not used with experienced hands. I tried a 5-inch rotary last year for the first time and absolutely hated it, the machine acts like it wants to fight you the whole way.

Have a read of this thread, it provides a purchase progression -

I have a Porter Cable 7424XP polisher that I've had for more than 6 years and it's great. It's heavy enough that you don't have to apply any pressure on top surfaces (roof, hood, etc.) and thus far I haven't had any issues with it in terms of brushes worn out, etc. although I do have spares. Compared to waxing/polishing by hand, it cuts my time in half and your arms don't hurt at all. It's expensive (I paid about $170 back then) but Amazon has it at a good price right now (15% off). I use Lake Country foam pads on it.

Well I used the carpro spotless this morning, didn't seem to help. Guess I'm left with polishing, but the stripes are what the are.

6 days. I washed and waxed 5 hours after it happened. Spotless was applied 6 days later.

No, how long did you let the Spotless dwell on the spots before you rinsed it off?

About 50 seconds, bottle said 30-60, I was afraid of it drying.

As I mentioned earlier, even though you didn't get a visible result, this step will have neutralized the minerals and prevent the spots resurfacing. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you need to polish afterwards. You could also try a second or third treatment before grabbing the polisher out.

only thing that ever removed waters spots from my shadow black car was a compound and polish. tried carpro spotless and undrdog water spot remover for sprinkler water spots and those didnt do anything at all. not sure if its the because the black paint makes everything so easily visible or what, but just some meguiars compound and polish from autozone has never failed me the couple times it has happened

I tried McGuire's paste cleaner/wax also, no change. Haven't gotten to the polish yet.

Being a cleaner/wax I thought there was a chance.
