Purchased a used 2017 Mustang Convertible in Canada last year. Noticed some water leaking on the rear passenger side when raining. Since I have all weather mats, the water can be seen on the mats. Brought it to the dealer and they tried to fix it. Then noticed water leaking on the front passenger side. Brought it in again and while they tried to fix it, they actually made it worse. Brought it in for a third time and it is in the shop for 3 days to get it fixed. Even though it is under the 3 year 60KM warranty they are adamant I cover the rental car for these 3 days which is outrageous. Not sure if they will get it right this time.

Started doing some research here and realized this problem has popped up many times!

In the convertible section saw some threads but also saw many threads in this Issues section. When reading the threads it became clear that this is not a convertible issue but rather a Mustang issue.

Here is a summary of the types of leak that have been reported here. I imagine there are many people who don't realize their car has a leak since you really need to pay attention to notice it if it doesn't pool. Also if you rarely use the rear seats, you may not even look there.

Leak behind passenger seat This is identical to the first problem I had:

Leak on the doors / A-pillar This is the second leak I have on the passenger side.

Water in Trunk / Rear Window I don't have this issue but might be worth to check

I probably haven't come across all the water leak threads. If there are others, will add them to this master list.

EDIT: Just remembered something from the documentary "A Faster Horse" (documentary on the making of the S550) where they talk about a leak. Just went back to watch it. About 12 minutes into the movie an engineer is highlighting some problems in a meeting. He says:

"So okay up in this a-pillar joint here. There's an air leak. Through here, there's a water leak". Then the chief engineer jokes "Other than that, this was the best joint we've ever designed."

Some tips to check for water leaks.

1) If you have all weather mats / rubber mats, check them after a rainfall. Both front and back. If they are wet, you have a leak.
2) Touch the carpets around the front mats, rear mats and under the seat. If it feels damp, you have a leak
3) When it is raining or after it has rained check for any water drops on the A-pillars. If there are drops, you have a leak
4) When it is raining or after it has rained check for water drops on the inside of the doors and kick panels. If they have drops, you have a leak
5) Check the carpet in the trunk. If it is damp, you have a leak
6) Check the spare tire well for any water

These seem to be the main areas. Really need to pay attention to see it. Will update with any other tips as well.
