Just ran the car through the touch free and noticed as I was towel drying when I raised the hood, I was surprised to see a lot of water dripping from the bottom of the hood insulation. Puddled up on the battery cover. Must have been a quart or more there. More on the pass side but some on the driver's side as well. Must be coming in from the hood vents. Any one else ever notice this before? Bothers me to think that that much moisture is lurking in a hidden place.

Guess that's the drawback of hoodvents. Heat from the engine should dry that out quickly.

I guess. Think I'll make a habit of raising the hood after washing to help drain off some of the excess. Make for less moisture for the engine heat to have to evaporate. With warm temps hopefully not too far away, I'll be able to check to see if my favorite two bucket & hose driveway wash gets the insulation less soaked than the high pressure touch free.

On this car, I no longer use a touchless wash. I have gone to using wands with presoak, soap, and rinse cycles precisely because of the water intrusion through the hood vents. I also use the wand from the front to rear, avoiding the vents themselves, so that the rush of water doesn't hit the vents first. Any water that runs back down routes away from the vents because of the indents.

Just curious what you guys do when it rains?
Drive it! I have found a difference from a pressurized stream of water directed near or on the vents vs a hard rain. Much less water...

I think the insulation is partially meant to catch some of the water rolling into the vents and bring it back. If you spray right in there it will not stop that but rain and hose run off seems to get up in there.

Won't that eventually cause heat related damage to the paint?
Nope, 7 years and 3 cars with insulation removed. Never an issue.

How about increase in engine noise. Not talking about exhaust sound. Any noticeable difference?

Good info. I should be fine all summer with my normal driveway wash as I don't use a high pressure stream at all.

I like the Pony and the oval. Is that a readily available decal or is it a one of a kind custom thing.

Very slightly louder engine bay sound, and I have the noisy ecoboost.

The decal is available.from Anchor Room. Many colors available.
It might not.be on the website, you just have to.ask for.it.
