This thread will be about my journey of building a Mach 1 for drag racing that suits my tastes. The goal is a fully street-able, drive nearly like stock, cruises comfortably, and competitive in car shows.

What's it run?
Just got it back from the shop. We have some belt slip. Therefore, we have more work to do.

Secondly, the lower Mach 1 Handling Pack spring are causing the wheel alignment shop to put in more Negative Camber than I would like to fit the 315/50 R17 Micky.

This will be a marathon fellas, not a sprint. The fat girl is gonna eat though!

I have one goal as far as speed. Run a 9.9 in the 1/4 mile and I’m good. However, the setup will be capable of low 9’s for good measure.

Ah gotcha, I didn't realize you had not made any passes yet. 9s won't be an issue. What will be an issue is that you will be trying to figure out how to go even faster LOL

Nice car! Not sure how much different the handling spring is but I just got mine alligned with -.5 in the rear at a custom alignment shop and he said there was a ton of adjustment back there. I did put on the Godspeed Camber Arms and Toe Links. Dropped .11 60 foot with going .5 on a 305/45/17. Naturally Aspirated.

That what I’m talking about right there. This information will be helpful going forward. Thanks!

I did purchase the Toe links and every other adjustable part I could think of to help achieve the best alignment for my wheel and tire combination.

We are going to change the springs this week. More to come on those.

Right on! It handles just fine on the street and looks good with that camber. Puts the power down much better.

Sorry didn’t see your suspension mods in the Original Post. Where are you getting it aligned? I would definitely go to a performance alignment shop if you aren’t already. The normal alignment Shops usually just want to say it’s within specs and don’t have the knowledge. It costs a bit more, mine was $175 but definitely worth it.

Went to a place called Plaza Tire that some of the guys go to but I’m not pleased. I will looking finding a performance shop that specializes in racing applications.

Since I went with the 315/50 R17 ET Street R, there has been some rubbing problems that I never really had on the Mach 1.

On my 2021 Mach 1, the tire and wheel combo fit nearly perfect with no modifications. On this 2022 Mach 1 with HP, the car is lower and that is a problem.

Therefore, I started to research Drag springs and to my dismay, all of them seems to lower the vehicle.

Then I asked the question to my self. If they only seem to go up on the spring rates and lower the car by shortening the spring; can I find a Ford stock ride height spring with similar rates?

Mach 1 HP spring rates: front 211 rear 742 lb/in

Mach 1 spring rates: front 194 rear 657 lb/in

GT350 spring rates: front 211 rear 857 lb/in

GT350R spring rates: front 240 rear 917 lb/in

GT500 spring rates: front 251 rear 885 lb/in

GT500 spring rates: front 268 rear 885 lb/in
Carbon Fiber Track Pack (CFTP)

BMR spring rates: front 250 rear 980 lb/in

Steeda spring rates: front 150 rear 800 lb/in

So, I just bought some GT500 rear springs! They will raise the car up and have a higher spring rate than the Steeda Magnaride springs and a less than the BMR Drag springs.
