I'm sure for the guys that are unhappy with theirs, once there is something they are happy with, they would update the shocks, they are a pretty good company

here's my update
I truly respect the brand and the shocks "work" as intended VERY well
The coming loose issue doesn't seem to be the actual issue
I've checked mine a few times where they mount to the control arm and the upper mount nut where I installed washers and nylock nuts
All points torqued tight yet my shocks make noise at low speed

not enough for me to remove them, but they do make some sort of noise not related to the install points

They have known about this for quite a long time and by MULTIPLE people and it concerns me to hear this as I was banking on them being trustworthy.

not trustworthy? That is something that should not even be mentioned with their name. Chris is phenomenal and does a great job of taking care of customers.

again , i will reitereate

when Viking first sent sets out to people like Kelly@ bmr, and several others for testing. no one complained about anything. that's because more than likely, they were all drag racers, looking to get the most et out of their cars,

with et sometimes there are sacrifices to be made. same thing if they had sent me a set, I would have went out, smacked down a 1.4 60' after having previously hopped all over the place and I would have been in love, just like I always have been with their shocks, and just like I am now

so, they went into production with the shocks.

if your a manufacturer, designing and testing a product, and not one person complains or says anything about any type of noise, what would you expect them to do.

and again

that said, now that a few people in the general public are complaining, they are looking at the design again,

like I posted 13 days ago, they now have some changes they have made, out being tested by the general public.

with the initial group being out there for months with no complaints, you aren't going to get a fix that they are going to release in a week or 2,

chris is happy to have you send the shocks in to him, and they will make the revisions they have done so far to try out.

as I posted, they are also working on a new rod, that will be a month out or so from 2 weeks ago, that they will be testing with as well.

they are a phenomenal shock, Heinz just ran a 10.1 this weekend, his 1 and only suspension mod we did on the car are the Viking shocks, still on stock halfshafts and the car is holding up.

Viking Shocks - The PP "Bounce" is Gone!

So, those of us not in the know can't have concerns?

Look, I have posted over and over again how much I loved the Warriors I had.

I was involved in a 3 way email and more than one voice call conversation with Chris, another Viking person (can't remember his name) and Kelly from BMR. I tried multiple tricks with them first hand to correct the problem. They even sent me updated upper adapters to try and fix it. After trying everything they asked me to do with hours of testing the rattle was still there. I returned mine because I am a customer that wasn't satisfied, period.

Just because some people can live with the noise or some people didn't get the noise does not mean some of us didn't get and hate it. That is our right as a customer.

I have also stated multiple times that I am looking forward to the redesign and am wanting to give it a try along with their soon to be released struts. I have clearly stated I like Viking.

I just didn't like what I just read and this is a public forum and I have every right to express my concerns. I don't like finding out that Viking "may" be saying they have only had 2 complaints when I personally have been talking to at least a dozen that have and I am only one person so I know the number is higher than that.

To sum up my long story, I truly loved my Warriors (except for rattle). I agree Viking is a great company and I look forward to the revision. Just concerns me to hear what I read.

Is there any sort of stopgap measure we can take to cure the rattling before viking officially releases something?

Don't get me wrong, these shocks are amazing. The rattle is super annoying and for the price, it's not something we should expect or have to tolerate.

Well...

The problem I see is, I don't really know what you would address.

Viking is making changes based on my requests to them, and some people who have contacted them about the rattle.

Either, my ears are numb....or I still have not experienced the rattle. I am on my 4th set of Vikings on my car and have not heard a rattle thus far, and we have had multiple sets on multiple cars here. I have logged over 5K miles on multiple Viking Shocks on the S550.

At this point, I personally think it is:

-The OEM Shock mounts moving internally

-The valving on the shocks

It is not the lower half of the shock, and I don't see any possible way the upper portion could move enough to rattle once tight.

The lower bushing assembly on the lower shock mount is VERY rigid. Viking has told me that they were going to soften those up, due to the stiffer version being more prone to squeaking. That won't cure a rattle issue, though, I know for sure.

My current shocks are Crusaders with a 1" shorter body, with the OEM Bumpstops cut .75" and the OEM dust boots installed. I am extremely happy with this set-up.

I don't think I posted in this thread, but another Viking one.

Mine had a very loud squeak on one side, but not any rattles. I returned them and Viking went through them and also replaced the bottom bushing to be proactive.

They said they couldn't duplicate the squeak, but it's now gone and still no rattles.

I would actually love it if you would do that.

Like I stated, I have not heard it yet....and would love to have a shot at hearing it and coming up with some ideas on precisely what it is.

I had a set here that were noisy for a customer. We installed them on a bone stock PP car, and I didn't hear anything to be honest. I was hoping I could duplicate what the customer stated was happening - but nothing.

I am happy that Viking is working on it though. Many shock companies would just accept a small % of issues and continue on with production.
