I'm sure for the guys that are unhappy with theirs, once there is something they are happy with, they would update the shocks, they are a pretty good company

thats good to know. the rattle is'nt "that" bad, annoying as hell but not that bad. For now, wouldn't want it to be permenint though.:clap2:I'm sure for the guys that are unhappy with theirs, once there is something they are happy with, they would update the shocks, they are a pretty good company
I emailed Viking last week , they said they only herd of 2 complaints and one of them was mine .. I told them there were more than 2 ..Anyway all that have this problem need to email Viking and let them know you have the problem ..here's my update
I truly respect the brand and the shocks "work" as intended VERY well
The coming loose issue doesn't seem to be the actual issue
I've checked mine a few times where they mount to the control arm and the upper mount nut where I installed washers and nylock nuts
All points torqued tight yet my shocks make noise at low speed
not enough for me to remove them, but they do make some sort of noise not related to the install points

Well...Is there any sort of stopgap measure we can take to cure the rattling before viking officially releases something?
Don't get me wrong, these shocks are amazing. The rattle is super annoying and for the price, it's not something we should expect or have to tolerate.
Kelly I'll put my Viking rattlers back on and you can drive it and hear it for yourself ..Well...
The problem I see is, I don't really know what you would address.
Viking is making changes based on my requests to them, and some people who have contacted them about the rattle.
Either, my ears are numb....or I still have not experienced the rattle. I am on my 4th set of Vikings on my car and have not heard a rattle thus far, and we have had multiple sets on multiple cars here. I have logged over 5K miles on multiple Viking Shocks on the S550.
At this point, I personally think it is:
-The OEM Shock mounts moving internally
-The valving on the shocks
It is not the lower half of the shock, and I don't see any possible way the upper portion could move enough to rattle once tight.
The lower bushing assembly on the lower shock mount is VERY rigid. Viking has told me that they were going to soften those up, due to the stiffer version being more prone to squeaking. That won't cure a rattle issue, though, I know for sure.
My current shocks are Crusaders with a 1" shorter body, with the OEM Bumpstops cut .75" and the OEM dust boots installed. I am extremely happy with this set-up.

I would actually love it if you would do that. :cheers:Kelly I'll put my Viking rattlers back on and you can drive it and hear it for yourself ..![]()
