what it sounds like to my ears. First & this is only "my perspective" it only happens at low speed, & if I were to "guess" it almost sounds like an internal rattle or clicking like a bearing fluttering. once speed is 40+no noise.

Another disappointed customer!

My perspective on this is similiar to above post. Rattle is extreme when shocks are "cold" or at least not run for a while. I have had the shocks off a couple of times and checked bushings, added washers to upper mounts and finally bump stops because I was not happy with lack of available travel.

Sounds like a valve or internal part of shock is rattling when small motions are caused by poor road surfaces. Completely goes away when run for a few miles.

I am on an extended road trip - route 66 from start to finish. Hate the sound in the morning. Particularly on new car. They do work well. I'm dissapointed I got what seems like a bad set. The fact that not everyone has this issue indicates, to me, they have a quality control problem. I hppe there is a resolution to this. I am particularly upset because, as a Canadian, the shipping costs alone is a burden. Not to mention the hassle of twice more, at least, having to re and re the shocks.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Well...

At this point, I personally think it is:

-The OEM Shock mounts moving internally

-The valving on the shocks

It is not the lower half of the shock, and I don't see any possible way the upper portion could move enough to rattle once tight.
As long as we're speculating...I had one noisy shock (both the rattle and the loud squeak). When I swithched the shocks L/R the rattle changed sides. I really think it is in the lower shock bushing. No noise with OEM shocks whatsoever.

My $.02

Mine do all the time , never stops no matter how far I drive it ... They will do it up to maybe 30 to 40 MPH on small bumps ... It's fine from 45 to 80 MPH ..

Any update from viking or bmr or beefcake here on a fix to the low speed clunking?

ditto. I wont buy these shocks until viking can identify with the issue and confirm its resolution. There are other options I suppose. They are more costly however.

Thanks for the update Terry, that is really great news. I for one will be getting them again. Best shocks I've ever had outside the rattle thing.

I know Viking is a standup company, and Beef I bought these from you. What's going to be done for people that have already bought a set and have these problems?

you can send them in now, and they'll update with what they are changing as of now

or you can wait for the new rod, and they will update then

I'd rather wait until they were good to go, just to have the least amount of downtime. I love these shocks, but the clunking noises are super annoying. They really do make the car hook so much better though!
