This has all turned to be very disappointing and frustrating. While the tech acknowledged the obvious vibration doesn't seem right, it spent three days in the shop, only to be told that they can't do anything about it, and that their field engineer says there nothing wrong. I'm going to take video.
What someone needs to do it somehow get video of the drive train while driving and the vibration is going on. Video the drive shaft and rear axles to see what they are doing during the vibration episode.

My halfshafts are now available for installation, after over a month on order. App't for Tuesday morning. Scheduled to be in for the day... service advisor actually said, 'Let's hope this does it'. My fingers [and sundry assorted body parts] crossed.

Well... half shafts didn't do it. Next step, unknown as of this morning... was told I will be given more info by end of day. Sigh.

At this point, request that they replace the whole differential. That was the last item and it worked.

After waiting a month for a response from the "hotline" I called customer service at Ford. They opened up a new ticket, since the old one seemingly closed - they now have to respond within 72 hours.

Hopefully, I dont get the runaround about the tires and "thats the way its supposed to feel". I may insist that they either get an engineer to the dealer, or replace the differential. If they keep refusing, maybe the BBB way is my only option.

So, at this point, there are only 5 cars that have had the vibration resolved?

Old Ford Guy: Replaced with 1 piece aftermarket driveshaft
Juben: Replaced differential
flyboy34: Replaced ring and pinion
Blacklaw: Replaced differential
888mustang: Existing OEM driveshaft phase/alignment changed

Am I missing anyone? Do I have the resolution correct for these?

Car is still in shop. Supposedly still dinking around with stuff... probably sitting in a corner, more like it. At this point, I'm just shrugging my shoulders, pretty well resigned to whatever explanation I get from the service advisor, who keeps on telling me about the other stang that is in for the same problem. Supposed to get 'update' by end of business day.
Sure.. if previous is any indication, it'll be "is it okay if keep it for a few more days, we just need to doublecheck some stuff". Yada, yada, yada.

Having my DS replaced this morning, and the service advisor just came out to tell me they have it installed, and the vibration is still there. Not sure what to do at this point, I have had the car for 6 months and this is the 4th visit (to 2 different dealers) to try and get the vibration fixed. At least the dealer is working to try and get it resolved for me rather than just send me on my way with a "it's normal, deal with it" explanation.

Interesting, hard to spot the definitive solution, with only 5 of the ~50 who said they have vibration. Mind you, for 50 with the problem there hasn't been a commensurate amount of input concerning what was being done to address the problem.

Definitely agree. That statistical part of my brain needs a task to keep me from getting more angry about this. I am curious enough to try to keep a running tab of resolutions to see where a best starting point may be. :frusty:

Stang is back home. Service advisor says it is now a "Ford engineering problem" & "it's up to Ford to figure out how they should deal with it". Uh? This is an update? ETA for Ford input, unknown.
Here's a good one... when I asked about differential replacement, advisor said "no it can't be, because the mechanic said it is driveline related". What the... ?
A call now outstanding with Ford customer service manager & so the saga renews.

This is the problem. No consistent fix, nor problem identification. The problem is in the differential. It is just beyond words that they are unable to remedy this.

BlackLaw, I'm about to go through arbitration some time in the next two weeks. Do you have any recommendations/suggestions?

I'm going to take a look at their videos later today.

Make sure you have a complete log of every visit, communication and attempted fix. Copies of each repair order, and "invoice" statement. The more information, the better. You will also need your bill of sale, and invoices for any costs you have incurred as a consequence of your car being out of service.
