Gentlemen....I have 200 miles on the new DSS driveshaft and it definitely makes a difference over the OEM in vibration and noise level. The buzzing noise from the OEM center hanger bearing is gone completely. Maybe with the premium option there is more insulation in the floor to dampen any noise?? There still is a very minor hint of harmonics somewhere from 60 to 70 but all the way from there up to 100 is smooth as glass. Road surface surely does make a difference as to tire noise with the Goodyears. DS is relatively easy to install and DSS now has the correct measurements for the V6 auto and are very easy to work with. The one piece DSS DS fits well in the tunnel and is much lighter and more hefty than the OEM all around. How are the rest of you doing getting Ford to respond to this issue....it is strange that most owners seem to have no problem with this??? Now I can take the OEM DS around to see just what the problem is and still have a car to drive.

Old Ford Guy - Thanks very much for the update; that is encouraging news. Please keep us updated periodically on how you like your new DS, and/or if you notice any quirks after you live with it for a while. With luck, it will all be good news!

Mine will be going back on Monday morning, this time to a different dealer than the one that replaced the first drive shaft. Without even seeing the car, the service writer is already giving me the usual song and dance - "it's a Mustang, not a Lincoln" and "they all do that"....blah blah blah. Sadly, this is the "best" dealer of the three I've been to so far. :tsk:

I have notified my CSM, and he is confident that he will be able to make sure it gets corrected one way or another, based on his success rate with his previous customers with similar issues on the 2014s. Fingers crossed. I'll keep you guys posted.

I got my car back Thursdsy, and so far, the problem appears to have been resolved. I hope I'm not jinxing it, but having the differential replaced finally worked.

I didn't get an invoice on the work performed, but I will Monday and post it up so everyone will know exactly what was done.

Question for the guys who have the vibration. Was this something that showed up after getting some miles on the car, or was it there from the beginning? I've got ~500 miles on my GT w/6-speed manual and it's smooth up to 100 MPH. Hope this isn't something that manifests down the road.

GT Pony....Mine was right from the dealership...drove it home 225 miles and noticed on the freeway. Had driven it around the dealership at speeds under 55 and did not notice then. Drove it in the shed and put up on hoist once got home and the snows came so left it there till this spring. Drove it some 300 miles this spring to see if it would come out of it....did not. So noticed here that others having same problem and since 225 miles from dealer said heck with Ford and ordered the DS. As you can see here some others have said it is the differential and that was replaced and seemed to fix it...that is a strange case have never heard of anywhere before with my various Fords over the years. Maybe replacing differential had something to do with DS alignment???

I always have a very, very slight vibration in the steering wheel and shift knob, even at idle. Is this not normal on a v8? Just asking. On my road trip to NC and back, I also got a funky vibration in between 90 and 100 (I didn't drive that fast much, just a couple times when no one else was on the road) and my radar detector which is mounted to my rear visor would start shaking like crazy. Above 105 it would stop, but anywhere between 90 and that it would shake. Car didn't feel like it was shaking tho, it was odd. Not sure if I should take my car in to get looked at, I really, really hate the dealership playing around with my car. Hate it.

Vibration & Rumble Timing and Dealer "Analysis"

Question for the guys who have the vibration. Was this something that showed up after getting some miles on the car, or was it there from the beginning?
~300 miles on car when vibration & rumble first noticed
got it to the dealer within a few days and took the Service Mgr for a ride with me on their not so good roads at the time. He recommended that I come back when both their head mechanic and a loaner car was available.

One month later, I received the call and went back to the dealer, now with ~1400 miles on car. I gave the Mgr a link to this forum and took the head mechanic for a ride on their newly paved roads. I reproduced the rumble for him and let him feel the vibration in the steering wheel.

A day and half later I was informed by the Mgr that they measured the vibration with their analyzer and that the amplitude of the vibration did not meet Ford's criteria for working on it. I asked them to reproduce the results for me with their analyzer installed, which of course the Mgr obliged. During the retest, I asked the Mgr how old their analyzer was and when it was last calibrated.
Answers = They obtained it in 2006 and it has not been calibrated since.

This style analyzer uses a wired sensor that is magnetically mounted to the passenger seat rail. The Mgr said they have a newer analyzer on order and that he will call me when it arrives.

I PM'd Ford Service (Jeff) here and a Ford Customer Service Manager for my Region has contacted me and is attempting to find another dealer with equipment that was acquired within the last 12 months.

I have the 3.55.

Glad to hear they've gotten the issue taken care of, Justin. Let me know if you have any future questions or concerns. I'm here for you. :)

Happy to hear it! PM me if you need help in the future.

Hopefully they'll be able to achieve the same results as these guys have gotten. Let me know how it goes, icarumba!

2015 LE KONA BLUE
I have a Kona LE with the same problem of the steering vibration between 50 to 70 that changes to a rumble and vibrates the mirror. Had the tires road forced by the dealer did nothing to solve the problem. I just cannot have it in the dealer for weeks. Its my daily driver. i hope I can get this fix quickly its is really starting to bother me to the point of wanting to trade it in. I have bought a new Cobra Mustang every year that they had one available most have been them a GT500, 8 GT500's in all. I loved the 2013 GT500 the most it was my best Mustang ever should have never traded it. This is the first Mustang in a long time that had vibrations problems since my 2003 Cobra, which had a similar problem which took a carbon fiber drive shaft to fix. Funny thing it was an IRS suspension Mustang too. I love the comfort of the new 2015 and the interior is great looking but allot of the plastic creak to the touch something the last generation mustangs 2010 up did not do. Ford need to work on the creaks and vibration in this car. I hope this does not get deleted my messages keeps getting deleted for some reason.

Just got a call from my dealer. After having the car for 4 days, they told me it has passed all of the tests, and Ford will not authorize any repairs. :frusty:

In reality, it failed the most important test - the Customer Satisfaction Test.

My CSM has been notified; I will post whatever I find out from him.

This is far from over...

Dave....That is exactly why I went ahead and purchased the DSS driveshaft; I knew I would spend just as much $$$$ running around and wasting my time. Unless a person has a major obvious problem dealers can make $$$$ on they are not interested and can you blame them...it is corporate Ford that is not supporting their dealers....been there done that! I have had many a Ford performance and family vehicle and never a problem like this Mustang with vibration. Take my present 2013 F-150 and Edge....smooth as silk; and my previous 08 GT Vert, Edge, F-350 and so on...never a vibration / noise problem! There are inherent problems with this Mustang design...and another thing I notice on the hoist is the underbody is so full of holes and cracks that the frame and body will likely retain dirt / salt and rust out in no time.

Yeah, that may end up being my ultimate solution as well, but I just hate the thought of spending more money just to fix their bad engineering. They are covering my rentals at my insistence, so I don't have any out of pocket at this point... just aggravation. I have an appointment at another dealer on Monday. My next step will depend on what they tell me.

Are you still liking the DSS DS? Still no NVH or other issues? I am baffled as to why Ford would go with a two-piece DS when a one-piece would work.
