Ford just released this service message

Jul 18 2016 3417 - 2015-2017 Mustang Driveline Vibration At Highway Speeds

Some 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles may experience a driveline vibration directly related to a vehicle speed of 70-100Kmh (50-70Mph) and is perceived as a tremor in the floor pan, seat track, or steering wheel and may be heard as a rumble, hum, or boom. Before replacement of any parts be sure to verify the concern with a road test and visually inspect the driveshaft for damage, undercoating, incorrectly seated universal joints, rotate the driveshaft by hand to feel for any binding or end play in the universal joints. If no concern is found check and correctany tire balance issues using Loaded Hunter Road Force® Method. If a concern isstill present balance the driveshaft using the Mastertech® Series MTS 4000 Driveline Balance and NVH Analyzer. Refer to Workshop Manual Sections 100-04,200-04Aand 205-01. Use labor operation 1007D and any appropriate combinations.

So can anyone get the internal doc to post as a pdf - and the same holds true for the Work Shop docs being referenced?

Thx!

Yes, this is huge news. We need a document number or something to prove we're not crazy. I should get my car back from the body shop this week then it needs to go back to the Ford shop and get the attention it deserves. Just try, Ford, please! You can't leave the dealers with nothing to go on. They did not make the car!

7/22 update - day 60 & finally some action - BBB called to say Ford legal approved the buyback and to review the $$ and what I needed to do next - since I accepted the offer, arbitration hearing is cancelled - ironically, dealer called (for the 1st time in 5 weeks) to say an FSE was there working on the car

Ok so I spoke to the regional customer service manager and she said that Ford's official "fix "is to put the hose clamps on the driveshaft to balance out the vibration. She said it was approved by Ford engineering. Anyone else heard this? She told me some vibration is normal since it is a performance vehicle. I told her to give me a break and if that's the case why do only some cars have this problem.
The car has only been in 2 times and only for less than a week.
On one hand the car feels great but on the other it feels like a baindaid and not a real fix to me.

^^^ I too thought this was a cheesy fix when I 1st heard of it.
But if you Google "drive shaft balancing" it seems to be a common method of doing on-car DS balancing.

The hose clamp method is just for diagnosing. They should then put washers under the pinion flange bolts for the final fix. That's how they did mine. Unfortunately, the vibration has returned on mine which indicates it is more than just balance.

One thing we to keep in mind is something that is widespread here is far from it on the real world. When you crunch the numbers, the percentage of issues is likely not very high. From there you have to find out why once the problem reaches a internal threshold to be investigated thoroughly.

At that point. Is it a plant assembly issue, a transportation issue, or a supplier issue. It takes time to validate what is the issue is once it comes up. And if it is a supplier problem that takes even more time to get them to acknowledge it, and implementing a fix may come in a variety of ways. To include rolling it into a mid cycle action, and a part number replacement for vehicles affected.

I will keep you guys posted on my car as well. With the heat and construction ihave been doing alot more slower Windows up a driving which is much quieter, and this tab confirms my suspicions of a vivibratioat certain speeds.

They are replacing my entire rear assembly. They swapped ds, tires, etc and hooked it up to the vibration machine thing. All signs point to the rear. Waiting on the pumpkin to ship and crossing fingers that this fixes it.

So it's been about 8 weeks and I finally got my car back and it seems pretty quiet during the test drive ......now on my way home upon deceleration I hear the same noise coming through and I'm like shit here we go again... I called the service advisor let him know what's going on and he told me to bring him the car in the morning that he is going to have two mechanics take a test drive with me.... well we take a nice long test drive and I hear them as clear as day... But the mechanics to each other wow this car is really quiet inside... and I'm like can you please pay attention to my complaint.. So they both agree that they don't hear nothing and they both tell me that those cars make noises like that and I grabbed one of the mechanics hand and put it on my steering wheel so he can feel the vibration and his answer to me is that's a normal vibration... Case in point I'm sick of this shit... So I got back to the dealer they told us service advisor they cannot duplicate the reported trouble and send me on my way this is so freaking pissing me off what they've done to me with this piece of shit car is unbelievable... I guess my next step is Court because I'm not sitting on this... So to all you guys listening out there where are reading this yes there are ways to make a better but it doesn't go away.. The more I drive it the more it comes back and they replaced everything from the transmission back I've got all the paperwork to prove it.. God help us all.

I have a test drive scheduled with the ATL area FSE in the morning after riding with the SM from the dealer today. He felt the vibration but still contends that mine is one of the smoothest Mustangs he has driven. I did test drive a new GT and it was no better than mine but also needed the tires balanced so it was hard to tell. Full report tomorrow...

After waiting for 7 months I got my car on tuesday....drove it home from the dealership and yeahhh it vibrates....

It starts at 80kph like all the others, today they balanced the wheels and told me there´s no solution yet. :paddle:

Frustrating, you buy a 50000€ car which vibrates and has a lot of other issues which must be repaired.

I have 18,863 miles on my Ecoboost. Every since 16k-ish there's been a very prevalent vibration starting at 50 and just getting worse as speed increases....and boy does the speed increase :headbang: ....I work at a dealership, just not for fords, I re-balanced the tires twice and as I was leaving work yesterday a freind was following me and he said both of my wheels were wobbling like I was missing lugnuts. Checked those and they were all at 100ft/lbs. I called the dealership I bought it from and they are looking at it tomorrow morning. Thank God for warranty.:ford:

Wheel bearings... hubs. This has been a thought of mine with all these vibration issues or at least 1 possibility.
