I’m fully aware of the YT vids - and have posted extensively in this lengthy thread - just offering up some new thoughts to the issue as to why the vibe persists on the 2015-2017’s even after multiple attempts to repair via warranty work, aftermarket parts OR DIY.

SSM 46767 was the last updated SSM from Ford and that IS the one where the recommended fix is replacing the original DS with the revision. There has not been any recent movement or SSM’s from Ford.
————

BTW - I no longer have the DS vibe worries :) I went through the Ford Buy Back process and got rid of the 2016 - now in a new 2018 with absolutely no issues at all. So that’s one way to permanently fix it. :)
Golly. Ford makes us replace the whole car for a fix. :ford:

I do notice a vibration difference depending on the fuel tank levels. It appears less when the tank is half full than full. The rotation pulsing can still be felt at any level. I wonder if shielding the tanks or spraying them with a thick undercoating would help.

Fuller gas tanks probably helps dampen the vibrations some from getting into the cabin.

The ultimate marketing scheme. :ninja:
Your missing the point. By leaving the car partially unfinished you get to establish a working relationship with your car that ends up completing you and your well being . You can actually say “ Ford made this car, and I actually made it better with my modification input”. Its a formula that has made the Mustang the best selling pony car of all time!!! After all what fun is buying a car and driving a car where the only input you have is gasoline!

Yep, nothing connects you more to a car then having to re-engineer and modify it to work properly. ;)

Could be the gas tank enhances the DS issues by adding it's own sympathetic resonance to what the DS is doing.

How bout adding the balance masters around the pinion flange might not be as effective cause not on driveshaft but should be pretty easy install.

Actually, adding the balancer around the flange itself should be more effective than adding it around the driveshaft. Should be worth a try.

I think some one tried this earlier in this massive thread, but I don't remember the outcome. Seems the installation was more difficult than he thought?

I was driving the 17 GT today down the freeway and really couldn't use the rear view mirror because it was vibrating...

I stopped by my dealer today for an oil change and alignment, I mentioned that I'd like to bring my car back next week to have the revised driveshaft from SSM46767 installed so I'm dropping it off on the 11th.

Ever since they put the new shaft back in about a year and a half ago, it hasn't been as bad as before but it's still there. I was going to try and fix it myself at some point but I figured, if Ford has a revised SSM and I still have a warranty, I might as well try to get them to do a driveshaft and maybe even new rear end while I can.

So Ford has a "revised" drive shaft for our S550?

I never could completely eliminate it. Got real close, but in time it would get worse again. I put quite a bit of money and a boatload of time into it.
Finally traded for an 18 pp car. Smooth as any vehicle I've owned, including 3 BMWs. Ain't looking back. Glad to have finally moved passed this issue.

If they can fix the 18 then they can fix the 15-17.

Good luck with that. Over 3000 posts, numerous people trying some methodical, careful and good mechanical approaches to the problem and no one has completely solved this issue. Ford's solution is a revised rear suspension for the 18 model year. Note the term revised. Those are Ford's words, not mine. I think they know what it is, will bandaid it to placate everyone they can, buy back from those they can't, and move on to the new chassies. I really liked my 17 and would not have traded it if I could have fixed it completely.
I'm no engineer, but I do own a precision CNC machine shop, and am well versed in precision assembly, balancing, and alignment. IMO this is caused by tolerance stack up, pinion angle, and poor parts manufacture. There is probably some geometry in the suspension that is in play here as well, hence the multitude of fixes that minimise the vibe but never completely eliminate it.
Why some cars have it and some do not I can't say. My 18 is as smooth as any car I've ever owned. If that's an indication of Ford having fixed it I'll take it.
The current incentives and what I got for my trade made it a no brainier for me.
