I would like to thank Dan@Velossa Tech on a greatly designed & functional part that is very easy on the wallet.
I ordered 3x of the Big Mouth and there was an e-mail from Velossa Tech double checking that i actual needed or wanted 3 peices before they shipped them out. Shipping was very fast. Great after-sales service, which is hard to find nowadays.

Any idea if it would work with this aftermarket grille:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/mmd-v-series-grille-1516.html

The rib isn't in the same exact position but is very close. Check out the video a little down the page. The ~21 second mark has a nice before and after shot for comparison.
I'll be ordering the "big mouth" this summer. Checking out the grill, I like the side openings but not thrilled with the large bars, not a fan IMO.

If I had to guess I would say yes, the grill opening on the intake side seems to be very close to the stock shape. Although I never tried to fit one on that grille so I can't make a guarantee.

Hello everyone!

I wanted to show you what the latest BIG MOUTH development looks like.

We are ALWAYS trying to push the envelope, we have perfect the post production chemical treatment process to make all S550 BIG MOUTHs look like this.

I like the idea of this product, particularly to help seal an aftermarket CAI to keep IATs a little lower. For those that have these, what kind of results are you seeing? Does it help keep temps down a bit? I know this has probably been covered before, but I don't have time to go through 20+ pages of this thread right now.

My only concern is how does this affect the overall breathing of the engine? With the gap between the stock intake and the grille, I know that it's taking in enough air, even if it is a little higher temp underhood air. How do I know that the engine will get enough air with this in place if it's only drawing air through the tiny holes in the grille? I'm going for an NA build, and will eventually be adding a GT350 intake and possibly cams.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey dragster, thanks for the kind words.

i'll do my best to answer your question

The flow area of the opening of the big mouth is about 13.5 in^2. To put into perspective it is slightly more than a 4" diameter tube.

Dont forget the big mouth has aspiration stand offs, so your flow area isnt just the grill opening. The standoffs create a gap between the grill and the big mouth, you can see the standoffs in some of the pictures.

At low vehicle speeds, say 1st gear, when the engine isnt seeing the ram effect, the aspiration ports allow the engine to breath. At high vehicle speeds, the duct acts as a ram device by channeling the air efficiently. So you really have all bases covered.

I hope this makes sense. I'm still eating my pancakes.

I just did mine today, way easier than I thought. You don't have to completely remove the whole bumper.
Did you have to remove hardware in the wheel well to get it far enough off? Wondering if you can feed this in by just taking out the top mounting screws.

I bet if you are running a grille delete it will go on without complete bumper removal but I'm not 100% yet.

I want to pull the trigger on this but I have reservations about pulling the bumper off. Seems like whenever I mod my car nothing ever goes smoothly, even the simple stuff.

The bumper is really easy to remove. You can get away with removing one screw/bolt in the tire well, a couple push pins, and then the bolts across the top of bumper under the radiator cover. I also had to take out the two bolts on the belly pan that screw to the frame.

All told it takes about 15-20 minutes to get it loose. I'd really suggest taking it all the way off so you can easily access the grill to open up the honeycombs.

Thanks. I get nervous with this kind of stuff not fitting right after I put it back on. Body panels are finicky like that.
