Under 7k miles and engine started knocking

Sorry to hear...this is starting to concern me a bit. I'll definitely be getting rid of mine before the warranty expires.

When I talked to Dan M. from FPRS he said they hadn't had single engine failure at the school. They run like 40 cars, don't they? There's obviously a small percentage of engines failing, but I don't think its enough to worry about keeping it long-term.

It could be a small percentage of engine which have issues but only Ford knows. I installed Bob's ultimate oil separators at 400 miles thinking it would help with the longevity of the engine but knowing my luck that didn't help. Still waiting for Ford to figure out what to do.

I would think as hard as they run those would have seen an issue by now. Such an odd thing.

I think its because they are fully warmed up and stay up to temperature constantly. They do not get revved up when cold and everything comes up to full operating temps very quick on the track. Plus I think these engines are extremely tough even though some have had issues, I still think the actual percentage of failures is very low. Of course if you are one of the unlucky few I feel for you!

For me it wasnt until I went to the Track Attack that I realized what these cars were all about. I beat on my track car hard out there with multiple runs to redline each lap without so much as a hiccup from the car. After that experience I’m willing to call my recent motor failure a fluke and move forward. I think the voodoo is a durable motor and maybe there are just a few motors out there with an isolated problem that somehow got unnoticed going out the door at Ford.
